Why this name?
Our name was derived from a dish Stuarts mother would feed us every Sunday teatime. (We couldnt always afford Pedigree Collie ... sometimes we would have to make do with Mongrel)
Do you play live?
We have been playing live now for over two years and in that time have managed to get most of Glasgows live music clubs/pubs under our belt.
Playing live is why we are a band and it is what we are best at. It has not always been that way however... our first few gigs we were as stiff as wood.
Playing live is how you earn your stripes as a group and I think that we have now done that.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is f***ing amazing. I (Stevo/bass) am a self confessed "Cool Geek", I have been preaching the benefits of the net since the late ninetees.
A global community (or cult) is an amazing idea, if not somewhat distracting. I dont know about you but when you have 'everything in the whole wide world EVER' at your fingertips... you tend to be just a little distracted.
I reckon because of the net, we are all a lot smarter.
Wouldnt you prefer a nice game of chess ?

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah, but then we would spend the advance, change our name, cut our hair and start writing folk songs. F*** corporate rock.
Band History:
In the cold dark winter months of 1979 as the last great decade of music drew to a close, two babies born beneath the sign of Scorpio breathed the first bitter air of this world.
The thousands of miles between them ensured their temporary separation but neither god nor devil could prevent the two cosmic twins eventually meeting.
And so it was, sixteen years after their birth (the summer of 1996) Steven and Stuart were finally introduced.
Heaven erupted whilst hell imploded. This was never meant to happen. The implications devastating, the consequences infinite.
Both men born beneath the Scorpion carried in the pits of their souls the last essence of the 70’s, and with that… the last essence of real music.
And no-one could stop them now.
Lassie Casserole's first incarnation was as acoustic duo Wixy Toe.
Wixy Toe consisted of Steven and Stuart on acoustic guitars singing well written, but overly happy love songs about a girls called Emma and Elizabeth.
The name was supposed to be Whisky Toe after Jack Daniels who famously died of an infected toe, but at our first gig (13th Note) their was a misprint so Wixy Toe stuck.
Stuart and Steven continued to write songs together long after Wixy Toe's demise and have been doing so now for nearly ten years.
In February 2002, Steven upgraded his home PC to a digital recording studio and they recorded what was to be the first Lassie Casserole song ever... Zombies Revenge.
Zombies has never been played live, in fact it was never played after they recorded it at all.
They started recording more and more (with a drum machine) including Here Comes Jesus and Pigpen. It is on these tracks that you can here the rough sound of the band gradually breaking through.
In summer of 2002, just after T in the park, Derek Neave (a mutual friend who had assured Stevo he could play drums) hooked up with the boys... and the rest as they say is history.

Favorite spot?
We like dank pubs n clubs. We can often be spotted in Brunswick Cellars/The Variety Bar or Sleazys.
Clubwise Steven likes to dance to techno, Stuart blues and Dez, hardcore metal.
We have been going to the Cathouse since it was the Rat Trap and still think it f***ing rocks.
