Lima Charlie plays everything from indie rock to jam-heavy improvised music. We're very eclectic, and try to make each song unique.
Why this name?
It's a military phrase, from the phonetic alphabet - it's used over walkie-talkies and radios meaning "loud and clear." We thought it was appropriate in describing our sound.
Do you play live?
We play live in CT and New York City and love playing no matter where or when.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's a great way to get the songs available for anyone in the world to hear at any time, so obviously we think it's a great thing!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We're keeping our options open...
Band History:
We formed in early 2004 - we're all ex-members of a band called the Vibe-Raiders, so we had played together for about two years before forming Lima Charlie.
Your influences?
Our songwriting is more influenced by modern rock bands like Radiohead, Ween, and Sonic Youth, and we also do lots of improvising, so we've been influenced by Phish and some jazz artists like Wayne Krantz and Brad Mehldau.
Favorite spot?
NYC
Equipment used:
Guitars, keyboards, bass and drums.
