"Innocent Splendor" started by complete accident. It started in early 2004 as a way of creatively venting frustrations and bottled up emotions. In the early stages of this project there was another musician and co-writer, name Cory. We met on May 8, 2004. We began chatting about music and he told me about some of the bands he's been invovled in. I sent him the lyrics to "Sweet Dreams" and he had the music to another he song that he had written. He put the 2 together and they fit seamlessly perfect together. We then began working on some other songs and began writing and working together constantly, thusly forming "Innocent Splendor". But, due to "Creative Differences" Cory has now gone on to work on his solo projects and I wish him the best of luck........I have been able to move forward by working with several other extremely talented musicians and continue to do so as time permits.....Still have to go to that "Real Job"......I'm continuing to write and am working on getting some tracks up for your listening pleasure....but, until then, enjoy the lyrics, comment with your thoughts, and please feel free to send any ideas you may have.....Creativity Is ALWAYS Welcome!!!
Why this name?
We were actually checking out one of those band name generator sites and came up with "Innocent Splendor." For me it seemed absoultely perfect, because of the fusion between the "Innocence" of the true heart-felt lyrics to the sweet "Splendor" of the musical arrangments.
Do you play live?
Yes, we do when asked. And tend to bring on extra musicans to help fill out the different instrumetal parts.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It enables an artist to let their efforts be heard by the masses and offers a broader fan base.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
ABSOLUTELY!! As long as I am able to create the music I love under my own terms while being true to my musical roots.
Band History:
Ree:
I have been working in the music biz for over 14 years now, mostly running sound boards and projects. Over the past 14 years I've worked as a Sound Tech for a punk/metal band "Guttapunkz" and sang backup for other bands and various projects. I've been playing acoustic guitar for 4 years now and started writing lyrics in 2004. With "Innocent Splendor" I write the lyrics and sing backup harmonies.
Cory Threatt:
Has been playing guitar since he was 16 and writing lyrics for about 10 years. He wrote all the music for "Innocent Splendor" in the beginning and pulled double duty on the lyrical content as well as lead vocals.

I fell inlove with music many years ago. Listening to everything from rock, pop, country, blues, jazz, classical, opera, punk, latin, ect. My true journey in this business started at the tender age of 12 when we had a studio in the basement of our house & I began learning how to run soundboards and the basics of recording. Over the past 14 years I've worked as a Sound Tech for a punk/metal band "Guttapunkz", a backup vocalist for serval groups that varied from pop to country, lead singer for a progressive rock band, and on various other projects. I've been playing acoustic guitar for a few years now. I played for Mass in one church service and sang gospel for another. In Jan. 2004 I started writing my own lyrics and that's where I truly found my own voice. I am free to say anything and everything I think and feel. Writing brings me true peace.
Cory Threatt:
Cory is totally obsessed with R.E.M., Incubus, and other Alterntive bands of the late 90's.
What Does The Music Sound Like you Ask??
Well, I don't know if my stuff sounds anything like anyone else's.......Basically everything I write is something I've experienced or felt......I don't know how to write any other way and I'm completely Unapologetic for that....I write how I feel at the time I'm writing it..weather I'm angry, sad, happy, confused, indifferent, or whatever.....I've found many people have related quite well to my songs and that makes me happy...But this is me venting...like it or not.....It's all just me baring my soul before the world.....
