Live Improvisational Ambient Groove
These three guys get on stage and have no idea what the first note will be. They don't spend hours in private, planning their attack. Instead, the band plays to the mood of the room at that very moment. You're hearing for the first time and so are they, making the audience-band connection very special and real.
Occasionally though, you'll find these guys breaking out a cover, such as Chick Corea's "Spain", or John Schofield's "Deadzy". They do it their own way, but it's nice for an audience to be brought back to earth over the course of the band's 3-hour marathon performances!
The band appeals to the "jamband" fans and many musicians who like to come and watch these solid improv players. They allow their fans to record the live performances and encourage free distribution! The music is for the people to enjoy! Several recordings are already in circulation and are freely available if you send them an email!
Formed to back rising guest singers in showcase atmosphere, the band emerged as much, much more. After many singers got cold feet and neglected to show for their time-slots, the band was forced to "fill the void" and provide some music for the waiting crowds. They jammed and jammed, and out came a sound all their own. It got good fast and the promoters of said showcases decided to cancel the upcoming singer showcases, leaving the band to do what it does best. Since then, the boys have performed at several parties, clubs, and concert venues. They have recorded hundreds of hours of improvised ambient groove at their shows and are starting to circulate these live recordings. The response has been encouraging, so the band is still flying. Ben, Brad & Michael form the rhythm section of the Mae Cromwell Band. In addition, Ben & Brad have comprise the duo, Dynamo & Badnutbeats (http://www.umfm.net/music/dynamobadnutbeats/).
