maryspeak is a Corvallis, OR based
band whose music is as diverse as any other band whose members have played so much music in their lives that they became bored with straight ahead rocking. From bouncing highs to expressive lows, these sonic pranksters explore a variety of styles while somehow still sounding consistent from track to track. It is all based on the infectious melodies of singer/guitarist Ben C, energetic guitar from Chris Baron, and a slick and smooth rhythm section provided by Noah Stroup and Chris Harver. maryspeak would be poised to
break into the Northwest music scene if they ever cared to work at it, but as it is this is just for fun! Having finished work on a CD, the band would not mind if those with open ears paused to take a gander at the tiny blue dot.
Why this name?
When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother MARY comes to me

Do you play live?
We frequent the bars in Corvallis.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has allowed talented people who can't afford it, or have the connections, to distribute their emotional stuffs to critical purists everywhere.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If we had sex with a record label, there would be no foreplay...rest assured, we'd screw them complete till their ass was blue and gray
Band History:
Ben got some guys together, they didn't work out, so he kept the drummer, Chris, then picked up Chris, and then after playing bass for awhile himself decided it would be best to let Noah join.
Your influences?
Individually our influences span the music board, but together we can range from sounds of Cake to the Beatles.
