Well.. We're a band from Southeast Texas called Typecast. Formed in late 2001, and released a full length cd in '02 with our first singer. In 04 we underwent some changes and found a new singer.. Discovered our own style and started working material for a new cd called "The Golden Age Of Ridicule". Confessions of the X Communicated was the first song written for the cd and it was studio recorded.. The recent songs uploaded we're recorded live so the vocals are pretty hard to hear. Why this name?
Most bands sit down and come up with as many names as they can until they all decide on one.. and that's pretty much what we until we came with Typecast and started goin by it.
Do you play live?
Yeah.. We definetly play a show atleast once or twice a week and when we're not doin that, we're rehearsin. Do we like it? Yeah for sure.. Nothin feels better for a musician to play their music.. It's who they are, it's what they believe in, it's every musicians goal to be heard and play for their fans. Special moments? I guess the most memorable moment was when our guitarist broke his leg at our first show and finished playing the set... Special moment would be when we opened for eddie money and it was hilarious because we we're a metal band opening for a dude that had god-status in the 80's.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well... Now days everyone has a computer and everyones on the internet. For an artist.. The internet is the best way to get your music out. When you upload your music to a website people from all around the world have access to it.. It's unbelievable what you can do now with music and how the internet makes it so much easier to be get your name known and music heard.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Would I still sign a contract with a major label? If it's legit, I mean.. our goal isn't to get famous.. and we're not out to "make it". We just play because it's what we love doin and dedicated our lives to it... and if a major label wants to put us in a million dollar studio to make a cd and help us get our music out... F*** it, right?
