Why this name?
This is the name my parents gave me.
Do you play live?
Most of the material on these albums would be impossible to reproduce alone on stage, due to the multiple layers of guitar and backward tracking. I do love performing, though, so there's always the possibility of a live situation down the road. As much fun as recording is, there is nothing like connecting with an appreciative crowd. I'd love to get a band going as soon as possible and get back out there playing live again.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Computers have completely revolutionized the way we make, market and distribute music. As an independent artist, I can now do it all from my home studio, which challenges record companies to become relevant again.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, if it was the right deal involving the right people.
Band History:
I've played in numerous groups across Canada over the past 25+ years, including many popular rock, alternative, blues and tribute bands. There's been label/national management interest along the way, but the indie route is my best option for now. I'm looking forward to releasing more music in the months and years to come.
Your influences?
Basically anything that challenges our notion of what music is and the impact it can have. A short-list would include Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash (R.I.P.), Santana, Neil Young, Daniel Lanois, Bob Marley, Soundgarden, Pixies, Bjork, Jane's Addiction, Radiohead, Tool, The Ramones, Brian Eno, U2, Beck, APC, Pink Floyd and Nirvana, to name but a few.
Favorite spot?
Montreal, Quebec is definitely my favourite Canadian city. Great music, food and architecture. My favourite 'spot' is campsite #168 at Bon Echo Park, north of Napanee, Ontario.
Equipment used:
I'm currently using a PRS CE24, Squier Strat, POD XT Live and a Vox amp. This material was produced mainly on a Boss BR-8 deck (big fun) and an old Fostex 260 cassette 4-track that gave up the ghost. Lately, I've been recording on a MacBook using GarageBand exclusively.
Anything else...?
This isn't your typical 'radio friendly' type of material, which is fine by me considering the current commercial music market.
