This is just me... doing what I enjoy and saying what's on my mind. I'm not hard, or street, or whatever affirmative superlative you want to use to show my realness, I just am. This is Hip Hop, straight out of VA, but it ain't where you from, it's where you are...
Why this name?
BDX is Acronym that is derived from a stagename I made up for an alter ego while in college that just kind of stuck.
Do you play live?
I've played live... as in just me and a mic, with a Dj, even with a live band (peace Barefoot). I love the energy you get from a good crowd. I'd say the most special moment would be opening for Busta Rhymes & Flipmode.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows more people to be heard, and hopefully it will deflate some of the nonsense that the industry is doing withtheri artists right now.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends on the terms because I would require a considerable amount of control over the final product. I wouldn't mind trying, however
Band History:
I started rapping at age 11 for a history assignment. The song, “Constitution Sign-Out” was a remake of a Fat Boys’ song complete with sound effects. After that, I ran into a three-year writer’s block during which I honed the art of freestyling. I began writing lyrics again towards the end of my high school career, performing in local talent shows and nightclub open-mic nights. I continued on into college where he began the performing under the name Gemini. Later that year, in 1995, me and DJ Question formed the group known as the Boondox Camp. I continued to perform whenever possible at local nightclubs and also began appearing at the college radio station. I started to write more lyrics; and, in his impatience for other emcees to join the group and use the lyrics, I started saying the rhymes as B the Unseeable MC (shortened to BDX) using a different delivery and style. With this unique style, He has opened for Alternative Hip Hop band Circle 6 and has performed live with poet Jessica Care Moore; however, opening for Busta Rhymes and the Flipmode Squad ranks as his largest performance to date.
Your influences?
I've mostly influenced by Jazz, first and foremost... hopefully that comes through in my music. Hip Hop influences include the Roots, ATCQ, Black Star, PE, Gangstarr. I'm also touch by classical and even some alternative... I have a bit of everything in my collection.
Favorite spot?
I haven't been all over the earth, so I can't say just yet.
Equipment used:
I do most of my production on two computers, using wave editors, sequencers and multitrack mixers... I also have a 6-track mixer that I use in tandem withthe software.
Anything else...?
If you need beats, get at me... you need rhymes, get at me, you need artwork, get at me!!! Seriously, I hope you enjoy the work (once I post it). Peace.
