NEWS
Oct 31st: Put up "solo" site from band...probably won't be anything all too interesting here, but what the hell right?
Nov 5th: Wow, I already have more songs up than my real band...yikes. "Letters to Catherine" is surprisingly up and "As a Rule" is too. "AAR" was culled together in about a day, so I'm rather proud of that one. Give it a shot. Also, McKenzie is in the shop right now so my output will be significantly less prolific for a bit.
Nov 20: Good lord, 10 songs already. I gave up trying to get my songs to sound anything other than acoustic, so be glad. I'll probably still do a lot of electrics as I don't actually own an acoustic guitar (I borrowed a friends for the most recent songs I've recorded). Since I doubt anyone actually reads this little news blurb, I'll just ramble on now. Chickenfoot. Plaster.
Dec 6: Damn, life has been incredibly stressful lately. Shitloads of schoolwork, illness, not nearly enough time for any creative work at all. Sorry about the lack of updates/songs lately, but I've got a full plate right now. I'm also busily anticipating The Enders' recording session coming up next week. Oh well, I'm sure I'm not disappointing anybody. Out.
Dec 12: Put up "May Concern", extremely rough on vocals but the lyrics are awesome (not mine, haha). Checketh.
Jan 2: "Children Follow Me" and "TMWYS" have been slated for Enders versions. This should be interesting.
Jan 23: The Enders are on a bit of a hiatus for a while (not sure how long). I recorded another old song that I never stopped liking: "Turn Signal". Enjoy.
Feb 1: New acoustic instrumental, "Frent".
Feb 16: Updated my song descriptions with a little more information. Nothing too interesting, but it's worth a casual glance.
Feb 20: Happy posthumous birthday to Kurt Cobain. Not a huge influence musically, but enough to matter. Also uploaded "Longing", a short jazzy instrumental.
April 12: Updated with two new songs: a lullaby for a friend and a new song that's kinda angry called "New Words". Boring title, I know. Whatever, the lyrics are too straightforward for anything too crazy.
Oct 15: Huh...it's been nearly a year since I set up this site. Awesome. I guess it's as good a time as any to announce that plans for a serious EP are in the works. By "serious" I mean that the songs are gonna get the full-on studio treatment, some with a full band arrangement too. Not sure about the tracklist or anything, but to tide y'all over I have lots of new songs. Some are serious, some are joking, most are a mixture of both. I think you'll like them, it was a flurry of inspiration. My personal new favorite is "Glen Ellyn, Illinois", but don't take my word for it. Check 'em all out!

Inspiration can hit at the strangest times. Lately I've been inspired by some pretty offbeat memories, experiences, readings and ideas. My hope is that I can blend them with the words in my heart and stake my claim of originality. That being said, this is overflow parking. Here, have a seat.
Why this name?
He's the one who writes all the songs.
Do you play live?
I have only played solo live once, and it was in my English class so it doesn't really count. I'd be rather terrified to ever do it again, not to mention I'd feel guilty performing solo in front of a paying audience.
Update: Alright, so I'm playing shows now, haha. It's not as bad as I remember it, and I've improved a lot since then. Cool.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
See my other band's site for this answer, The Enders on Soundclick.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yup. No sense in being stupid about anything.
Band History:
I've been playing guitar since I was about 14, but I've been writing words since much younger. Honestly I would consider myself much more of a songwriter than a guitarist, but since I've managed to finagle myself a position as both in my current band I've been quite pleased with the circumstances of my growth as an "artist". I still write "poetry" and short stories when I have the motivation, but songs are definitely my preferred method of expression. My band has sorta died down for the moment, but I'm experience a sudden burst of musical creativity. Oddly enough, however, I'm going through a weird lyrical drought. If you've noticed, my last two pieces have been instrumentals. But I've been working on songs, really. I'll probably update with something new within the next week.
Your influences?
Paul Westerberg, Randy Stonehill, Johnny Rzeznik, Colin Meloy of The Decemberists, Billy Corgan, Raine Maida, Bob Hartman, Yusef Islam, Bruce Cockburn.
Favorite spot?
Lloydminster, Canada
Equipment used:
$10 microphone, my guitar and MY SOUL. Well, also random old recordings I continue to dig up from my computer. There is serious joy in simplicity. Thoreau would be proud. I talk to him everyday through the little door in the bathroom window.
Anything else...?
I miss my four track, and chances are you will too eventually. Sometimes I really hate the unbelievably horseshitty quality of these songs, but I guess I'm vainly hoping that at least some people will be able to hear a good song underneath the feedback, background noise, poorly tuned guitar and often straining voice.
