I've been writing music on and off for more years than I care to remember. I'm classically trained at the RNCM in Manchester, and my principal study was the bass tuba. Second studies included the piano, violoncello, and singing.

I'm besotted by the new music techology! I just wish it had been available when I was younger.

Since the year 2000 I've been privileged to be an elected member of one of the best councils in the UK, namely Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, a 4 star "Excellent" council in Greater Manchester. One of the things this has allowed me to do is to bring regular live, top quality concerts to the people I represent.

Why this name?
It was given to me at birth
Do you play live?
Not any more. I used to play in orchestras, in brass bands, and for many years, the Church Organ. But that was lifetimes ago! I was a tuba player. I also the Head of Music in a large Senior School for many years and for a time I taught Brass.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Like everything else it shrank the world - and it gave us a mouthpiece into many ears around it.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Not really. Realistically I'd settle for a few of my pieces being used in TV production work or published for performance
Your influences?
I was classically trained as a musician but that was years and years ago. I suppose you could say that most of the 'great' composers have left their mark on me in one way or another in that respect. However, I suppose I should single out Wendy Carlos back in the seventies who first gave me the burning ambition to be able to produce multitracked pieces.
Favorite spot?
Paris - where my wonderful wife Francoise was born.
Equipment used:
PC running Sonar 7, Overture 4, Finale 2009. I use the wonderful Garritan Persional Orchestra, Garritan Concert & Marching Band, Garritan Orchestral Strings Sample libraries, the Fabulous Vienna Instruments SE+, and Horizon libraries from the Vienna Symphonic libraries, I have the Best Service Galaxy Steinway and 290 Boesendorfer Grand Piano Libraries as well as a certain Choral library - so-called symphonic-haha!! which in truth I'm sorry I bought because, in my opinion, it doesn't live up to expectations and the lousy 'company' who made it don't like it at all when you point out it's limitations!! I won't give them any publicity by mentioning their name! (if you've guessed who it is - you'll know who to avoid!! ;-) I'll never buy anything of their's again - I would never look East or West again now I've made a Quantum Leap to much better sample libraries/businesses - proper ones who look after their customers and provide products which work like they're supposed to and cover the correct ranges!!
Anything else...?
As mentioned earlier I'm a local councillor and I was proud back in 2004/5 to be the Deputy Mayor.
Now, since May 2009 I've been the Civic Mayor, a position I'll hold until mid May 2010.
