Band/artist history
Line Up: Dave Blomberg - Vocals & Guitars Toni Haimi - Guitars John Forrester - Bass Guitar Michael Dean - Drums Nozzle was established in 1995 by Dave Blomberg on vocals and guitar with drummer James Davis. On Nozzle's debut album entitled "Winter", which received very favourable reviews in the most important music magazines all over Europe (Zillo, Orkus, Metal Hammer Poland, Metal Hammer Benelux, Hammer Germany etc), Dave and James were joined by Danny Vuckovic on guitar and Bass Player Mat Round. The band line up has since changed and is now Michael Dean on drums, John Forrester on bass guitar and Toni Haimi on guitar and Dave Blomberg on guitar and vocals The album "Winter" was recorded, engineered and mixed by the band at their own studio and consists of 12 songs. The music of Nozzle is focused on rock guitars, dynamic rhythm section, melodic vocals and dark, moody atmospheres. While working on the first studio album, Nozzle played a series of dates in Europe which included appearing at the "Nom Del Rock" Festival in Palestrina near Rome in Italy and a very successful headline tour in Germany in 1999. During their 16 date "Winter" Tour in Germany and Switzerland in January 2001, Nozzle have become known as a very energetic live band and has already gained strong interest from fans of live music. John Forrester was an important part of bands as diverse as The Colour Mary & Pressgang to name just two. The Colour Mary were indie media favourites who in their time played with the likes of The Stone Roses, Swervedriver & Ride, as well as having concerts transmitted live on Radio 1. Their music was described as 'dark, brooding and way ahead of it's time'. Pressgang were a mixture of roots & folk music, who took traditional material to completely new audiences. He is also a singer/songwriter in his own right, & tours regularly solo & duo playing acoustic guitar. Dave Blomberg started his recording and touring career as guitarist/songwriter with Reading based band Asylum. During a four year partnership, the band co-wrote and recorded two albums which were released and toured in Europe. In February 1993 Dave joined Bradford based band New Model Army and has continued to work with them as guitarist to the present date, during which time the band have released 4 albums, and continue to remain extremely popular with a strong cult following . Dave also appeared as lead guitarist on the 1993 album "The Bishop of Buffalo" by Rev Hammer (Cooking Vinyl). In 1994 Dave formed an acoustic duo with NMA singer Justin Sullivan and embarked on several tours of clubs throughout Europe and recorded the live album "Big Guitars in Little Europe". Michael Dean joined New model Army on drums for the "Strange Brotherhood" European tour in 1998 and since has continued to play a fundamental role in the sound and style of New Model Army. Michael played on and co-wrote the 2000 New Model Army album "Eight" and the live album "...And Nobody Else" in 1999 and recently been busy touring Europe with NMA singer Justin Sullivan. Toni Haimi is from Finland and is now based in the U.K.Toni cut his teeth playing in the Finish band "Lowdown Shakin' Chills" releasing their first album "......Up My spine" on Finish label Hiljaiset Levyt in 1993 and second album entitled "Sex is....." in 1994. They toured Germany including playing at The Berlin Independant Days Festival in 1991. Toni moved to London in 1995 and formed the band "Malluka" in 1996. Malluka's debut album "The Deceptive Sound of This" was released on Independant label Fierce Panda in the U.K in 1999. Malluka have supported Finish band "HIM", Gary Numan to a sold out Brixton Academy and New Model Army on the "Eight" tour in the U.K in 2000. Toni joined Nozzle in 2001 and has recently started playing guitar with the band "All About Eve" for their U.K tour in May 2002.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Nozzle are based in the North, Central, East and South West of England, so getting together is always time consuming. We have toured Europe several times since 2000
