The Only Band That Doesn't Suck Ass
Why this name?
It appeared in a dream actually. A man on a flaming pie told me that we're "Muzak" with a "z", an "a" and a "k".
Do you play live?
We're working on it.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
If YOU got to hear Muzak through the internet, it doubtlessly changed the music industry to the better.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Definitely! All those who feel the urge to shout out everywhere how "underground" they are and don't want to be known to more than 3 people are in fact the worst and most pathetic ones.
Band History:
Sometime in 2002 we (Christian Steifen and Nobbe [that would be me]) had the idea of a joke band we could tell people about that we play in. We wrote pages and pages of lyrics (hit the 100 mark after a few months) but we didn't have any instruments. A few months later I got an acoustic guitar and although I couldn't (and still can't) play for sh*** the first songs were worked out. Unfortunately we never got the chance to record anything at that state of the group though.

So, in about the middle of 2003, we sort of lost contact for about a year for various reasons but finally met again in fall of 2004 and decided it was finally time to go record some shit.

October 2004 came round and saw the release of our first Demo Tape "Mannitoba". It was recorded on two afternoons just with an electric guitar and us screaming our moronic lyrics. It sounds like total crap and for that reason came out in an edition of two with a hideous Richard Ramirez portrait on the cover drawn by me.

Some time in November we got together again and recorded 14 new songs, all with the acoustic guitar mentioned further above. We began experimenting a bit with instruments playing backwards while we screamed senseless words and sentences over it, guitar solos encoded to a very low mp3 bitrate and then put back into the song very loudly, having the TV play in the background and see where the songs leads and all kinds of stuff like that. Once we gather another 15-20 minutes that will be released as the second Demo under the title "Da hat der Arsch Kirmes".

We're also working on implying a drumcomputer into our music at the moment (albeit the most shitty one possible, because we don't wanna like...you know...sound good) and re-record some of the good songs off Mannitoba along with some newer ones to be released as a Promo Tape which we're gonna send out to fanzines to receive some bad reviews to quote from.

We've also got some other things cooking, but they're not ready to be made public yet. They're gonna rule everbody's ass though. So keep checking for updates.

We'll have some new T-Shirts out soon after the shitty first ones turned out way too f***ing large for us.

Releases so far:
"Mannitoba" - Demo Tape (2 copies) - 20 Songs, 28 Minutes
Your influences?
We listen to everything, namedropping would take way too long. We have thus far recorded Punk-, Noisecore-, Shitcore-, Acoustic-, Schlager-, Hardcore- and Powerviolence-Songs and much more variety is to follow (we now have an effects processor)
Equipment used:
The (almost) cheapest sh*** possible:
Guitar: Squier Strat 5-string (custom model - meaning one string kept breaking constantly and will now not be replaced because of annoyance)
Bass: Career Precision with cap of tone control missing (just fell off the f***ing bastard, unbelievable)
Drums: Fruity Loops Studio 4 Demo Version (as if I would pay 300 bucks for that piece of shit)
others: C-Harmonica (very small, hardly usable for anything), Metal Kazoo (not used yet, needs to come out at a very special moment), Cans (used as drums on one song)
Anything else...?
