Mustang is no longer a band, but simply myself, at least for now. It is very hard to try to keep a band going and keep up with new songs and changing members all the time. Especially while working a day job and going to school 4 nights. So for now its just me. All the songs already on here are mine, so nothing changes in that regard. Anybody around the Searcy, Jacksonville, Arkansas area that might want to put a band together, let me know. I may be moving there in the near future. And in case you wonder, My original music is not an accurate reflection of all the music I do.
Why this name?
Most folks associate a horse with a cowboy and a cowboy with country music and a mustang has it's wild side which lends to the southern or country rock side. We also liked the ring of it.
Do you play live?
We have been playing what we call the American Legion circuit around Pensacola, FL. We had the honor of opening for Tracy Byrd at Springfest in downtown Pensacola in the Spring of 2002 as a last minute fill-in for someone that backed out. We opened for Craig Morgan at the Beulah SausageFest on March 21st 2003, and Headlined for the Blackwater Riverfest over in Milton, Florida. We opened for Rushlow at Beulah Sausage Festival in 2004, opened a day of entertainment at the 2005 Sausage Festival which included Andy Griggs, and most recently for Erika Jo at the 2006 sausage festival. She's a bit stuck up.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It opens up doors to independent artists willing to make an effort on their own. It makes you visible to a much larger audience.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Be glad to if it were in the cards!!
Band History:
Began in January 2001 as a 4 piece called HiredGunz. Ultimately we became Mustang, and now we are just me. Our opening for Craig Morgan at Beulah Sausage Festival 2003 was our highlight so far playing to a crowd of a few thousand! We also opened for Tracy Byrd at Springfest 2002 and Rushlow at the Sausage Fest in 2004. We played for our third year in a row at the sausage fest opening a day-long entertainment extravaganza including Andy Griggs and most recently opened for Erika Jo for the 2006 Sausage Festival.
Your influences?
Merle Haggard, George Strait and Alan Jackson/The Eagles and CCR/Chuck Berry and Elvis.
Favorite spot?
That's tough. Being in the Navy, I have been all over the world and have too many places that I really like. I think the answer though is wherever my wife is and we call home.
Equipment used:
Takamine and Carvin guitars, Fender Squier Bass and Crate amp. I also use Shure wireless systems.
Anything else...?
I have a CD of 10 original songs for sell. With songs like, "This Rambling Man's Heart" and "The Sixth String On My Six-String", you can't go wrong if you're a fan of Country Music. And you can waltz with your favorite gal to the tune "Quarter Moon". Email us to order a copy.
