NEWS   Oct 14: Still lining up shows, recording plans set for late Oct/early Nov at Apollo.

Oct 17th: LokelYokel show at Kennesaw State University on February 16th, 2005

Oct 18th: The possibility of yet another name change has reared it's ugly head. No shows have been cancelled, but the site may change in a few weeks so I'll post a link if it does.

Oct 19th: Added lyrics to 2 songs

Oct 30th: Added new song! 'Twas recorded solely by me as an entry into a songwriting competition, but we'll probably record a full band version soon. Also, recording plans have been bumped up to mid-November and they likely won't be at Apollo due to financial issues.

Nov 1: Ah, the thrills of a brand new month! Election day is tomorrow, so everyone (even you Bushites) get your asses out and vote! We've got a new show at Swayzes on Friday, Nov 26th too.

Nov 2: You can't complain if you don't VOTE! Also, check out our Stations Playing to discover TC Radio! It's got some great sh*** on it, including the best new band in England, Fay Wray!

Welcome! Proletariat is a band open to anyone who wants to live the rock and roll freedom lifestyle. We hope you enjoy our songs very much, and we also appreciate your interest in bands attempting originality. Support your local scene!
Why this name?
The concept of the working class is important to us, but honestly we're planning to change the name soon. We just got really sick of the whole immaturity of a name change every 2 weeks.
Do you play live?
We play live occasionally, but are looking forward to heightening our show rate immensely very soon. We play often at Swayzes in Marietta, Ga.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The Internet (and specifically the mp3) has truly revolutionized the independent scene, and thusly has taken affect on the major music corporations. Music "industry" is something to worry about if certain process don't change. Mp3s put the power back into the people's hands.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
All that being said, yes we would. But it would be a truly shared contract, with equal pay to both artist and supporting company.
Band History:
Originally formed in the winter of 2001, Proletariat is composed mainly of two marching band geeks, one workaholic and a manic depressive gorrilla. Together they slap together loud rock music with pure strains of originality. These boys are in it for the long haul.
Each band member has unique and disparate musical tastes. Potash is influenced by Dream Theater, NIN and Incubus; Williams by Iron Maiden and Bad Religion; Dietrich by The Smashing Pumpkins and Our Lady Peace; Diehl by Primus and Tool. Though often at the centre of heated and sometimes violent debates, these ranging stylistic differences also provide the artistic glue for Proletariat’s loud, thumping punk-metal music.
Proletariat have played many shows in the greater Marietta area to mild acclaim. Their live show is renowned on the high school party circuit, although the band is admittedly still fairly green onstage. They are currently preparing a series of small tours and a debut EP to be released independently.
"Frankly, there’s nothing more that I want to do with my life than play music," says guitarist Kienan Dietrich, "and to share that music with everybody I can."
"This is my dream," confirms singer/guitarist Andy Potash.
Now that the band is enrolled in their own separate universities, they look forward to forging their own niche in today’s hard rock environment. Proletariat feel they are ready to head out into the music wilderness and try their hand at becoming one of North America’s great new bands.
