Band History:
a-jo played its very first show ever at st. albert's Freshfest Festival as a 5 piece ensemble with then-drummer keith gibbons. later that year, keith and the rest of the band parted ways musically, and the remaining members of a-jo recruited allyson rogers to fill in. it didn't take long before the arrangement became permanent.

the members of a-jo have significant performance and theatre backgrounds, which has resulted in a band that is as entertaining to watch as it is to listen to. a-jo can often be caught breaking into spontaneous improv comedy, which means that broken strings are just another opportunity to demonstrate the band’s versatility and stage presence.

throughout the late 90s, a-jo gained recognition locally, winning the title of "best band" at st. albert's future fest. they have headlined shows at parliament, the rev, the fox and hound, tin pan alley, blues on whyte and many others. over the last two years, they have been showcased in a number of local events, including hot summer nights and the edmonton fringe festival. not only have a-jo made a name for themselves among their long-time friends and fans and other members of the edmonton music community, but they have garnered a loyal following among those who have seen them live. a-jo's unique sound, energetic performances, skilled musicianship and intriguing lyrics have set them apart from other local bands and they are poised for great success in the future.
