Survival MXN is a musical project with only one basic purpose: to be a "recipient" for the musical escapades of one unknown individual, that happens to enjoy composing.
It isn't associated with any visual, fashionable ideals or trend - at least not consciently.
The fact that it's being divulged is in no way a reflex of presumption or self perceived quality, it just seems a natural step to take.
It's music for music's sake, if something else comes along the way, that will be very nice, but it's not a set goal.
Why this name?
The name is inspired by Richard Dawkins book "The selfish gene", where basically he presents a theory based in the "Evolution of the species" by Darwin, but with a "twist".
Dawkins defends that the smalest unit in the evolutionary scale is the gene (and not the whole organism), and that the gene uses its host organism (the human body for example) and interacts with other genes in the same system, as a way to guarantee its survival, turning all of us into "survival machines". I found this theory very enlightening and interesting, thus the name "Survival MXN".
Do you play live?
At this time the Survival MXN project doesn't contemplate live performances (translation: no money for a laptop).
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
MP3 and the internet change the music industry for the better, giving musicians an easy way to share and spread their music, without being dependent on record labels.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Under the right conditions, yes of course.
Band History:
After some years in the usual bands routine (and the usual deceptions), decided to form a "self-suficient", PC based, one man musical project. Started experimenting in 1996, and after many interruptions caused by lack of money (to buy the right tools), lack of self confidence, the day job and by natural laziness, released the first EP in January 2004.
Your influences?
A lot of different stuff, ranging from Bjork, Radiohead, Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Morphine, Pink Floyd, Mogway, Interpol, Sonic Youth, Queens of the Stone Age, Enablers, Tool to Fear Factory, Cathedral, Neurosis, Cradle of Filth, In Flames, etc.

Note: My influences have very little (audible)influence in my music...
