Born and raised in New Jersey, 21 year old rap sensation P Dawg actually caught his first taste of hip hop culture as a youth wandering through the burrough of Queens, NY. The bright-colored and complex graffiti murals captivated the young P, and acted as his doorway into a whole new world. He became infatuated with hip hop, and began jacking beats and jotting down rhymes. A hobby at first, but as he progressed and honed his craft, he began to take it more seriously. He formed Jersey Productions, a small group of other rappers and producers in his area, and recorded a steady stream of tracks. In the early 2000's he linked up with ActOne, an emcee from Connecticut, and founder of the Overly Dope Crew, a collective of talented musicians based mainly in the Northeastern US. Act helped P connect with other members of the crew who would provide him original instrumentals and feature verses on his songs. Since his start, P has released three projects: "Jersey Protege," "Man Behind the Pen," and "Does Anyone Know Who I Am Yet?" - all of which the young rapper distributed hand to hand and through the internet. After almost ten years of rhyming and recording, P is now working on producing his own instrumentals, and delving into a variety of projects with fellow Jersey Productions and Overly Dope Crew artists. P Dawg's next release is "Phil-osophy," an EP that will feature P rhyming over OD-affiliate SavaGE's gritty digital productions. Expect a lot more from this New Jersey prodigy, he is young and hungry, and hasn't even begun tapping his true potential!
