SoundClick artist: Jo`N - Jo`N play beautiful songs with melodic hooklines carried by Johanna´s soft yet demanding voice.

Jo`N isn´t really specialised in one musical genre but since we´re working mainly with acoustic instruments and most of the songs are very melodic you might call it folk in the broadest sense of the word.
The Band:
Johanna Fassbender: vocals; Vera Junker: violoncello; Markus Apitius: vocals, guitar, piano.
Usually there are guest musicians participating when we perform live.

Why this name?

The name came about because our singer´s name is Johanna and since she is usually the focus of attention.

Do you play live?

We love playing live but so far we only performed in Germany. We´d like tour everywhere. Any ideas ... ?

If you make it big..?

We wouldn´t have to worry about money anymore and would try to work together with all those artists who made music so important to us.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

People can get together all across the globe. You´re not dependant anymore from you local hotshots.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Of course we would. Major labels still have the power to create attention for our music.

Band History:

Markus and Johanna go back a long way. They´ve been playing in several bands together before they decided to start Jo`N in 1998. As Jo`N they´ve recorded a live album with a small label in Cologne which has its cult following here.

Your influences?

Lennon & McCartney, John Cale (we do a cover of "Close Watch" in our live set), Patti Smith, Kristin Hersh (we do a cover of "Your Ghost" in our live set)

Favorite spot?

For Markus it´s Sydney, Australia (I haven´t been to San Francisco yet), for Johanna it´s Berlin, for Vera it is home.
