Papa Shock entered the underground reggae scene more than 15 years ago. Based in Nashville, the country music capital of the world, Papa carried the dancehall torch when most locals had never even heard of it. As both a performer and songwriter, he's not one to limit himself. Though he never strays far from his dancehall roots, his music covers an eclectic range of reggae styles. From hard core Dancehall, to Lovers Rock to bare bones acoustic Roots, Papa Shock has created it all. Much of his work has been a solo effort, but the years have seen him collaborate with hip-hop, ska and rock artists - either on stage or as a lyricist.
Papa Shock came up in and around Kingston, Jamaica - the birthplace of reggae music. The formative years of his youth also happened to be the formative years of the modern Dancehall style. The energy and creativity of that era have left a lasting impact on Shock. From that solid foundation, his music has evolved with the times, shaping into his own distinctive style that you hear today.
The life of an independent artist can be full of ups and downs, but the love of the music keeps Papa Shock pushing forward. For him it's not a competition, it's a journey...and you never know where the road may lead or what the future holds. As his song says..."Tomorrow's Another Day".
