I am just me. Plain and simple. I have no band as it is now. I play most things on my songs by myself, except the bass parts which are beautifully added by the wonderful Per Sköld. I love the catchy Alanis-type stuff, and I'm at the very beginning of my songwriting - so I'm trying to find my own sound by listening alot to other songs and then trying to walk away from them again once I learn something new from them.
Why this name?
I don't have a band name.
Do you play live?
Sometimes, although I haven't done it in awhile. I've done alot of open-mike things in the past. Special moments are when you meet so many nice cool people out there who appreciate what you do.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well, in very many ways, obviously. Endless ways. I think there's more possibilities for musicians to get there stuff out to the right crowd now. You can promote yourself in a totally new, and I must add, much easier way. It's less expensive for the artist as well. I want to add however, that I am more in favour of streaming audio than downloading mp3s.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It depends on what they had to offer me, but yeah, I probably would.
Band History:
I've been to various music schools and universities, so I learned alot there. I've listened and played music since I was a kid. I grew up listening to jazz records. In my teens my foremost influence was the great Paul Simon. I wanted to be him! Later on, I began recording cover songs, and became involved with a girl that I had a band with called The Harmony Babes. We played alot in little pubs and also in the streets. I learned alot from that. Now I'm here, and I am just beginning to get some stuff of my own together - hope you guys like it.
Your influences?
I am a big fan of women in music industry. I love Alanis for her vocal expression. I love the Indigo Girls for their fantastic way of weaving harmonies together. Another big favourite is Neil Finn. I like poppy, catchy good songs. Michelle Branch and Avril Lavigne are two new women in music that I like also.
Favorite spot?
My mom and dad's house by the sea where there are no cars, just a great forest. No lights - just moonlight. I love it in the winter - just to lie there watching the stars.
Equipment used:
I use a few different guitars: Ovation Custom Legend, a black Les Paul Custom Plus and a Takamine 12-string. Other than that I use music software on the computer.
