I'm guitarist for North Carolina's most real cover band: Swerve.
Why this name?
I go by the name King Jah Rome as it represents the cool vibe I bring to Planet Earf. One of my friends used to call me Jerome as a nickname and it morphed into King Jah Rome after Pearl Jam released the album talking about King Jeremy the Wicked. Yo Kick it!
Do you play live?
Word up! Connolly's Irish Pub, Charlies, James Joyce. Irish Pubs love rock n' roll. I guess because we throw in some U2 and Van Morrison?
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It dilutes everything. Music is a commodity, everyone is a supa-star. It's better this way, we don't have idols so much except on that uh, crappy, Idol show.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
For mad stacks of green I would yo!
Band History:
I worked with the bassist's wife; who works with the drummer who knew the singers wife because she used to work with them; who happens to have a brother who plays guitar, and thus fate, laziness, and the wives brought the 5 of us together.
Your influences?
Clapton, Hendrix, SRV, Living Colour, CSN, Neil Young, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Paul Simon, George Benson, Tracy Chapman, Public Enemy, Lyle Lovett, Metallica, Zeppelin, Stones, Black Crowes, Lenny Kravitz, Storyville
Favorite spot?
Maui...it's the coolest place I've been yet.
