Welcome to the Blue Pages
Why this name?
While we were looking for a band name, someone said “Hey, why don’t you call yourself Kobalt Blue?” sarcastically to piss us of, so we went with it as a joke but then realized that it was a name people seemed to remember, probably because it is so dumb, so we stuck with it.
Do you play live?
We take any opportunity we can to play live because that is what it is all about. Of course we love to play live, I don’t think there is a band who doesn’t. At least there shouldn’t be. It is the thing that keeps us together. Working on songs or recording together can get everyone pissed of at each other real fast but then the adrenaline rush from on stage makes it all worth it.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the internet affects bands the way the band sets it up. I feel the internet is a part of the music scene so it might as well be used to get your music out to people.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Why not? Like I said, get your music out to as many people as you can.
Band History:
The first time we played as “Kobalt Blue” was September 11th 2001, which is an absolute crazy coincidence but true. Back then we were a three piece playing covers such as Blink 182, Green Day, and Pennywise. During December of 2003 we got a new drummer and second guitar and now only do original stuff besides the odd Metallica cover for fun.
Your influences?
Although some of these bands styles are not apparent in our music, all of the following and many more have influenced us in some way or another. Metallica, System Of A Down, Nirvana, Blink 182, Blind Guardian, Rise Against, NOFX, Matchbook Romance, Three Days Grace, Finch, Bad Religion, Wizo, The Offspring, Rammstein, Bose Onklez …
Favorite spot?
I would love to play a show in Vancouver.
