"Polimorphic, hydrid, independent, yabba-dabba-doo rock. it's the ideological mutilation thru the regressive bossa nova of California Black. Funkadelic aliens, those four guys got together for a mix of ideas."
Why this name?
California Black came from the obvious things in our sounds. The mixing of californian sounds with the black music of the funk and the darkness of sounds such as Black Sabbath.
Do you play live?
We are together for only one year, so we had few oportunities to play live. But yes we do, and yes we live for it. Playing live is the best thing.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The music now is free. We don't depend of record labels to spread our music to the world. There ain't publicists saying what should be heard...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
of course. but only if a substancial part of our songs could be freely downloadble from the NET.
Band History:
In 2003, four guys decided that living in Brazil (musically speaking) kind sucked. So they decided to form a band to play the things they really liked. So California Black came to be. Johnny (vocals), Dax (guitars), Pedro (bass) and Gus (drums). A powerful rock'n'roll power-trio influenced by the sounds of California (like Red Hot Chilli Peppers, surf music and the classical punk rock of the Dead Kennedys) and also by the immense influence of Black Sabbath.
Your influences?
Black Sabbath, red hot chilli peppers, beach boys, surf music, pixies, nirvana, funk, black music, dead kennedys, stooges...
Favorite spot?
we are from porto alegre, Brazil... we don't know any other places....
Equipment used:
it's a power trio: one guitar, one bass, one drum kit. And the vocals.
