"Weep for the innocent, sing for the hero, pray that your children never have to do the same... For you stand by a place which they once called Ground Zero, all because one God could have more than one name..."

About the song
This song was not completed until October 5th 2001. On September 11th we were in front of the television, taking a lunch break from our office, when the news broke in. We remained there. I apologise to anyone who may be offended by my politics. I wanted to write a song which could sung by anyone, at any time in the future. It is played on my Lowden O-10 in Drop D with the capo on fret 1 and it's a very simple original tune.
Lyrics
(Chorus)
Weep for the innocent
Sing for the hero
Pray that your children
Never have to do the same
For you stand by a place
Which they once called Ground Zero
All because one God
Could have more than one name

We built twin towers to heaven
And filled them with Babel
And the tongues of the Earth turned to silver and gold
And we made them a temple
For the money-changers' tables
Where the fates of whole nations
Were weighed out and sold

(Ch)

When the hopes of one world
Are the fears of another
When one man's delight
Is another man's pain
When the freedom he wins
Is a yoke for his brother
Remember that swords
Can be forged out of chains

(Ch)

So turn, turn again
While this world is yet spinning
Greet every morning
As precious as the last
Fight in your hearts
The one war that's worth winning
Fight for the future
And vanquish the past

(Ch, repeat and end)
