The Freefall is Sam Eason, a singer/songwriter from Bristol, England. Armed with only an acoustic guitar and harmonies that could melt a butter factory from 10,000 paces, he plans to spead his heart-felt tales of love, losing and lop-eared rabbits across the globe and into your subconsious!! Just kidding... if you like the songs, great! If not, not to worry... buy a Poncho and the world is yours for the taking, my son.
Do you play live?
Have played a couple of times at the pub where I work, The Crown & Horseshoe in Oldland Common. Absolutely loved it!! might try and get a few gigs elsewhere but I dont think it has got that serious yet!!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives bands more exposure, not only to get their music heard directly on sites like this, but also forums, messageboards and chatrooms can stir up quite a bit of word-of-mouth interest aswell.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Not looking that far ahead yet, but I dont see why not! There are about a zillion more talented and worthy people in front of me though. When they all get deals, I would feel better about signing one!!! :o)
Band History:
In the winter of 2003, I recorded a few covers of songs by the likes of Tom McRae, Damien Rice and the Smashing Pumpkins with my mate Adam Cutler, who incidentally, plays Piano on 'Sail On (Summer Breeze)'. I was really singing for the first time during these sessions so the quality of the covers we recorded are variable to say the very least! During the early part of 2004, I started to gain a bit of confidence with my singing and began to get a little better. In June, I wrote my first song (Sail On...) and have since written a few more! Have played a few gigs at my local since then and am building up to maybe trying out at a few open-mic nites or something.
Your influences?
There have been many major influences on my musical tastes and styles. They include: Damien Rice, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, Tom McRae, Ryan Adams, Ben Harper, The Smashing Pumpkins, Embrace, Doves and Coldplay. In terms of my playing style, Damien Rice has been the most influential. I generally prefer to play without a plectrum as I prefer the softer, mellower sound. A point of reference would be Damien Rice - 'O'.
Favorite spot?
Im not too well travelled although I would love to, but where I live; Oldland Common really is a great little place, on the cusp of the countryside but only 25-30 mins away from the centre, pretty much everthing you need is at hand
Anything else...?
If you like/dislike/love/hate/feel indifferent to any of the music, please feel free to leave a message or two on the messageboard! Or even better; be my friend!... on myspace.com!
