Alot has happened in the last 8 months.. with the passing of my beloved fiance Donnie to moving back to Montreal and starting slowly but surely a new life for me to be proud of one day.. it ain't always easy, but I know he would of want me to pursue the dreams we shared and sherish those moments with the ones we love.. in your memory sweetheart.. Born and raised in Montreal, Mira Shanti is one of many young up and coming artists that's been working on her crafts since she was just a little girl.... from putting up a play in her own backyard to singing as a fine member of the Saint Lawrence choir; The Montreal Symphony Orchestra...
Why this name?
I decided to use my own name because music these days lacks of originality. Also, Shanti means peace, which I'm always searching for in my personnal life and with others! :)
Do you play live?
Well actually with the choir, I had the opportunity to sing twice at the "famous" Carnegie Hall in New York City... that was like a dream come true..
Now i just wish for someday to have that same opportunity of a lifetime to perform my own music in it's great Hall.
Meanwile i'm writing new songs, recording at home and performing in my living room! ;D

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it opens the world to new artists that would have never had the chance to be heard in such a large scale in the first place.
I think it is a privilege in our days and age that we can be so connected... hope to take all the advantage of it!

... yes, if the right label came along, a label I can relate to and the right people to work with..
Band History:
Always was musically trained. Sang for different types of bands, but started working on my own craft in 1995...
Your influences?
To tell you the truth, I love practically almost everything that sounds good to my ears... from good pop-rock to eclectic indie sounds... I'm very diverse when it comes to music. Likes; Bjork, Liz Phair, Breeders, Mazzy Star, PJ Harvey, Tori Amos... Beck, Beastie Boys, Jay-Z, Chemical Brothers, Air, All Folk songs from the 70's and much more! Oh yeah, John Lennon, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley... love him... may they rest in peace
Favorite spot?
I have to say I love Montreal, New York, Paris, Cali, Boston... But sometimes, a day or two spent in the country or on a sandy beach makes it all worthwhile! :)

Just me and my guitar for now.. until I meet the right peeps to jam with! Just putting the word out! lol.. ;)
