What Up! My name is jay_jizle. My alter ego is DJ Letdown. I'm into hip hop/rap production and spinning and scratching hip hop music.
Why this name?
Almost every DJ out there makes up a name that hypes themselves up, so I went the other route. Nobody expects anything from someone named DJ Letdown, until they hear my music, that is...
Do you play live?
I spin at parties in the South King County area of Washington State. Starting in January, I will start playing at a small club in Seattle.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has revolutionized it yet again. Now no-name artists and producers like myself can get exposure all over the world.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Fa Sho! But only to get my name out there. Once I am established, I would start my own label and help bring other no-names to the mainstream.
Your influences?
Too many to name. The main ones would be obvious: Dre, Kanye, Timbaland, Just Blaze, Outkast, DJ Premier, QBert, DJ Craze, DJ Swamp, and everyone at FutureProducers.com
Favorite spot?
Either chillin' in downtown Seattle, or representin my hometown of Kent, WA.
Equipment used:
I got me a pair of Technics 1200 mk3's, a Vestax PMC 07 Pro mixer, and a modest PC with some production software to make some crazy beats.
Anything else...?
Vinyl. You can never have too much vinyl!
