I started out on drums when I was around 13 years old. At age 21 in '96, I taught myself guitar. Since then I've been writing and recording my own songs non-stop. I went from writing, recording and performing heavy metal music in my younger days to doing the same with acoustic folk songs when I got a little older and a couple years ago, I got into keyboard-related music. For the last couple of years, I've been writing a lot of keyboard instrumentals, sometimes adding vocals over top, and find myself growing both musically and spiritually through them. I love the great outdoors and like camping in the woods, trips to the ocean, and boating on the Mississippi River. These experiences are reflected in a lot of my music.
Why this name?
I used to go by Mindful Journey, but I decided since all the music is just me, using my actual name makes more sense.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet sure is a huge aid for unsigned artists. Now the major labels are suffering because artists can do everything themselves.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Maybe, if it sounded promising.
Band History:
I have performed live in small settings as an acoustic folk singer / songwriter both as a solo artist and in a collaborative project known as "Images of the Soul." My collaborator and I are currently doing our own things. The feel of the material I was writing in Images of the Soul grew into positive, enlightening moods. I fell in love with writing soothing, ethreal songs and became drawn to New Age music. That developed into using keyboard sounds to compose instrumental music, sometimes adding vocals over top. I rarely perform this music live. My interest lies mostly in the process of creating it, sharing it through CD, and persuing getting it to both the tv / film industry and recording artists looking for songs. I am a member of the online Artist and Repertoire service, TAXI, and have had a few songs from Spirit of Feathers critiqued. One of them, "Guided By Rhythm", got forwarded to a music supervisor looking for music for a film.
