Why this name?
I've come to really appreciate jazz as I've gotten older and because of that I choose to blend it to my name, which is Rick.
Do you play live?
No, not as of now, maybe down the road. I love playing live, but for now my focus is songwriting for others.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
As an independent artist, it's awesome because now we're able to bypass the traditional way of doing things which give us more opportunities with location not being a problem.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
As a songwriter maybe....but maybe not.
Band History:
I've been playing music since the late 70's with a rich history of playing in bands, hitting the club circuit and had the big record deal dream. In the 80's, I began working solo and am self taught in all areas of music production. As of now, I record, arrange and produce all of my material. With the way technology and the internet is today, I'm dreaming again because now one can depend on one's self instead of record company's, agents, managers, promoters, etc.
Your influences?
I like anything old-school. Some of the new stuff is cool, but a lot sounds the same to me. I do like how some folks are mixing hip-hop with jazz with R/B with rock and so in so.
