The Mississippian
NEWS   translation on my german song "Es Ist So Schwer"

Can you tell me, where the way's leading to
Can you tell me, what's touching your heart
Can you tell me, what you feel
- it's just so hard (difficult)

Can you tell me, why time's standing still
Can you tell me, why's not working without you
Can you tell me, what you feel
- it's just so hard

(4 x)

Can you tell me, why it's like the way it's now
Can you tell me, why you are so special to me
Can you tell me, just tell me why
- it's so hard

Can you tell me, why it just can't be fine
Can you tell me, if not now, when then
Can you tell me, just tell me why
-it's so hard

Why this name?
Fell in Love with Mississippi. I was looking for a stage name for some time, since i thought my civil name does not have "The sound". And since i just love Mississippi, it became my name.
Do you play live?
Yes, just love it. But don't have too much time right now.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
more promotion, connecting people, networking
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
dont' know. Never say never... Who knows?
Band History:

Here you have a Songwriter, singer, country musician, radio presenter/dj and producer from southern Germany. His civil name is Achim Schmid but he is better known as The Mississippian. He was born in 1975 and started to play guitar serious at the age of 16. Through his family there was a fascination for guitars since he was a boy.

He played in indpendent rock bands and as alternative singer and balledeer and performed in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Sweden and USA. After these wild wild years he started to dissociate from the philosophy of his former music and beliefs, and almost four years later the idea of "The Mississippian" was born. .

Through a trip to Mississippi back in 2000, a deep love to the magnolia state began. A love you just can compare with "home". His music is country but it is also influenced by blues, rock'n'roll and hardrock.

In the year of 2004 The Mississippian performed on the open stage at the first Johnny Cash memorial Day. He had the great honor to provide the listeners with a special greetings from the long year Johnny Cash drummer W.S. "Fluke" Holland.

At the same time his demo cd was published but is just given out for promotion purposes. Two of these eight songs will be rerecorded.

Another highlight in 2004 was when The Mississippian found a great friend and manager - Colonel Robert Morris. To be honest he found the Mississippian. This was and still is a very important station in The Mussissippian's musical carreer and even private life.

Also new in 2005 were the founding of Music Tours International and Rising Horse Records with sublabel Running Racoon Records.

?

The Mississippian attedned at Europes largest Country Music Fair in January, benefit galas where he met the princess of Hohenzollern and various charity shows and trips, such as the trip to spain where he visited a dolphin therapy center fot handicaped children. One of the Hightlights was the plan to attend at the "Jamboree on the Mountain" in Monteagle, TN (USA) in May 2005 as the only german artist, but due to business changes the US trips had to be cancelled.

To be nominated for five awards at the Texas River Best Of Country awards was a special honor for the Mississippian - winners will be announced on the award show in August in Texas, USA. Being a radio DJ since September 2004 he also was nominated for DJ Of The Year 2005.

Looking back on a success full year since The Mississippian started again in music business, he met lot of wonderful people and made lot of new contacts such as writers Col. Robert Morris, Kathy Wedvik, Dixie Vornbrock, Derek McCorkell, Everett Corbin, Yvonne DeVaney, Don Smith and Wolfgang Hamann, artists Ernie Ashworth, Joe Berry, Bill Turner, Becky Hobbs, Vernon Oxford, Jose Daniel, Paul and Helen Mateki and Mandy Strobel, fine producers like James Simmons and Col. Buster Doss, Don Jones and much more... there are so many to list, not to forget all the german writers and artists. He made friends and collaborations from Germany, to Austria, Netherlands, England, Scotland, Ireland, Sweden, Australia, USA, Canada and even Brazil.

The Mississippian will more focus on his songwriting side in future, plans and new collaboration are made and much more will be made, so if you're looking for new songs this might be just the right place for you!

BTW: since April 2004 an official german Mississippian fanclub is established - who knows maybe there will be inetrnational fanclubs soon? Feel free to contact the Missisisppian on that issue!

I want to say special thx to Buster for the JOTM even if i wasn't able to attend...
A special thx to Col. Robert and Irene Morris and to my german fanclub and all of my fans!
