play lo-fi play hi-fi  Life, From Where?
Holus is a progressive rock group of brazilian origin, with multi-cultured roots and no global frontiers. A band that works on a model in which its music is freely distributed, supporting the internet as a major tool for the free access of culture.
Why this name?
The name "Holus" comes from the greek "holos", which means "whole".
Do you play live?
Right now we've only played a few concerts here in Brazil. We love playing live and we're always trying to improve our performance, adding new elements to the concerts.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
We believe it changes for good. In our opinion music is supposed to be free, not controlled by major corporations which have only profit as a main goal, and that's why we release our songs for free.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It is not our intention to sign up with any major label.
Band History:
The keyboard player Juliano Moreira had been searching for members to his group since July 2003. In 10 months he contacted approximately 130 musicians, which meant 26 different possible formations.

Holus officially started as a band when guitar player Renan de Franzen joined the group in November 29, 2003. Juliano knew him from a band in which they had previously played together. Using the internet he met André Nascimento (singer) and Hans Hess (bassist). After many unsuccessful attempts with drummers André invited his friend Konrad Sauer to join in, and so the first Holus formation was completed.
Your influences?
Jethro Tull, Yes, Dream Theater, Spock's Beard, Led Zeppelin...
Favorite spot?
We all live in Porto Alegre, so that would be our pick at the moment.
