The Silver Strings of Putnam City is composed of musicians from all three Putnam City High Schools, Original, North, and West. The group gave its first performance in 1989 with eighteen members. The group currently has 65 members and has performed in Caen, France for the 50th anniversary of the Normandy Invasion. Additional performances in Paris and Blois, France: Lucerne, Switzerland: Salzburg and Innsbruck, Austria: Munich, Germany: Rome, Florence, and Venice, Italy. Washington D.C., Atlanta, San Antonio, Kansas City, and our recent concert tour to Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Colorado Springs, Colorado. In addition, this group regularly performs for banquets and civic organizations around the state. This group also volunteers its talent to community by performing in hospitals and senior citizen centers.

Unlike a traditional orchestra, a strolling strings group is a company of musicians who stroll among the audience while performing. Even the cellos get into the "stroll" of things. This program is a direct result of a well-balanced, fine-tuned orchestra program throughout the Putnam City School District. From fourth grade through high school, students study a sequential, district wide curriculum. These fine musicians are a product of the public school music curriculum.

Mrs. Anne Guevara is the orchestra director for The Silver Strings of Putnam City, Putnam City West High School, and Windsor Hills Elementary School. This is her eighteenth year to teach in Putnam City, and she has total of twenty-four years of teaching experience. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Auburn University and a Master of Education from Oklahoma City University, and post graduate studies in Viola at the University of Oklahoma.

Anne had been the President of Oklahoma Chapter of the American String Teachers Association, currently serves on the Executive Committee of Local 375-703 of the American Federation of Musicians, is a member of the Enid Symphony Orchestra, and is an active free lance violinist and violist.
