My name is Eric Wilson and I'm a popular producer and emcee from Cleveland, Ohio. I have a company called Scratchpaper Productions with some hot artists signed. I'm very known for hard-ass beats and songs and I showcase all of that on every track I make. I'm compared to some top producers in the industry, so I want yall to listen and email me with your comments (good or bad). Pass the songs on to everyone you know. My album dropped in January of 2006. Hit www.cdbaby.com/ericwilson to purchase it. 2006 is all about Scratchpaper Productions.
Why this name?
Eric Wilson is my actual birth name. I kept the name because it's also my father's name who was also a musician. He passed away in '95 at the age of 40, so it's my personal way of keeping the musical flame that he passed down to me lit.
Do you play live?
I perform a lot. Performing feels just as good as being in the studio and there hasn't been a show that I haven't pleased the crowd at yet. I have a lot of energy onstage and I usually can draw the crowd in quickly, even if they have never heard or seen me before. I play at different clubs and venues most of of the time in the Cleveland area, but, I have done some shows in other places besides Ohio. As far as special moments.. they are all special.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's making it very easy to network and get your music to the listeners and consumers. It doesn't get any fairer than this. I like it because it is almost an even playing field and I feel that is how art is supposed to be anyway. Let the music speak for itself along with some good marketing and promotion. The internet gives everyone a chance to do those things to the best of their ability.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Right now, in my current mindstate, I would only sign the deal if it involves Scratchpaper Productions as an independent label with the parent company trustworthy, reliable, efficient, and open to new ideas.
Band History:
Eric Wilson:
formerly signed to a prominent indie label as part of the group Bar-Nun.
Have worked with, performed with, or produced for Master P, Joe Budden, Keith Murray, Luke, UGK, Big Rube of Dungeon Family, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Devin The Dude, and many others.

Your influences?
Early jazz musicians inspired me a lot, such as my father (Eric C. Wilson, Sr.), Grover Washington Jr, Quincy Jones, and Herbie Hancock. Then, it was Run-DMC, LL Cool J, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Biggie, Kool G Rap, Treach, Tupac, Lord Finesse, Kurupt, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Phil Collins, Michael Jackson, and Jay-Z. As a producer I would have to say Prince, Marley Mall, Dr. Dre, Trackmasters, Easy Mo Bee, and DJ Quik. Currently I'm feeling Aftermath Entertainment as a whole.
Favorite spot?
Honestly, my favorite city is Cleveland, Ohio. Other than my hometown, it would be some vacation spot that I've been to. Probably Miami, Florida or New Orleans, Louisiana.
Equipment used:
Currently, I use the Triton, Roland XV-5080, Yamaha Motif (rack), Mo Phat, JV-1080, MPC 4000, ASR-10, QSR, Reasons, amd DP4. I use a Rhodes NTK microphone.
Anything else...?
Check out my cuts!!!! Keep your ears peeled for "The Warm Up". It's my solo debut. Watch for the name "Eric Wilson of Scratchpaper Productions" on other artists production credits. 10 out of 10 times, the beat is going to be bangin'.
