The Black Lake started out as an experiment to create a funeral doom metal version of Sleep.

Since the first demo in 2004 (which remains unreleased), the sound of the band has shifted considerably towards epic sounding traditional doom metal. The next demo, 'Dawning Of A New Age' will reflect this new sound.
Why this name?
