Peep Warren
NEWS   New track season, children. "Track 23." I'll just say it's different from all the others. I can't really categorize it, but if you can, tell me and I'll allocate it accordingly. Had a load of fun recording it.

My name is Peep Warren. I'm fifteen years old, and I play bass for a pop-punk cover band called KFC (Killing for Chocolate'), as well as bass, auxiliary guitar, drums, and vocals for an alternative rock-marketed band called Arminthe.

The new season has brought the influx of two new memberships. I now play guitar, as is my dream, for two other secondary school bands, BananaBukoBonanza and One Night Band/The Dalai Llamas.

I started playing guitar at twelve, bass at thirteen, and I've been singing for as long as I remember. Oh yeah, and I can do a mean harmonica.

In my spare time, I record acoustic tracks as drafts or demos for band performance, and I can write some pretty okay songs, although not for the genre I listen to the most.

Cheers and enjoy.
Why this name?
Arminthe was a band I joined two years ago. It got its name when the lead vocalist, Tricia, told me about a drink that was so strong it was illegal in France, called 'Arminthe'. Later we found out that what Tricia was really talking about was absinthe, but the mixup was so hilarious we just decided to call our band that forever.

KFC, I think, was created when one of the band members there (I can't exactly recall who) said she was hungry while they were brainstorming for a name. They christened the band 'Kellogg's Frosties Cereal'. I came in in the mid-formation. They changed it to 'Killing For Chocolate' later because they were afraid of IPR trouble.

I don't know how the hell we went for the fruit craze. All I know is that the rest of the bandies of BBB, who used to be part of something they named Buko Hut, stuck to it, and the topic rested on bananas. After much deliberation over what sounded better with association to the yellow fruit, we were christened BananaBukoBonanza.
Do you play live?
We do, at secondary school parties and soirees within the vicinity. I think it's all right, depending who we have, how our equipment is, and who's watching.

I'm fond of jumping around for certain pop-punk covers in KFC, and the rhythm guitarist, Gretchen, told me that she would always face the other direction whenever I did so, because she would probably lose focus with her guitar part and end up laughing. I was given the title 'Bass Hobbit'.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is a very vast source of information. Information includes music files, or MP3's. Internet is also free. So if consumerism is attracted by the fact that music can be reached free of charge on the internet, more music is downloaded, and the music industry is popularized in expediency.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Maybe, maybe not. I'm a bit too young and busy to consider that.
Band History:
Like I said before, Arminthe was the first band I joined upon discovery that I wasn't a mediocre guitarist. Originally drafted for the position of lead guitar, I stepped aside when we found someone a lot better and more versatile, and began playing bass instead. I was soon good enough there to perform, and after a few airy-fairy gigs, we were settled.

Arminthe is:
* Tricia (Lead Vocals)
* Carmen (Vocals, Rhythm Guitar)
* Jaime (Lead Guitar)
* Peep (Backup Vocals, Bass)
On roster positions, at least. No permanently investitured drummer as of yet.

KFC probably came around because of Arminthe. The vocalist there, Elise, discovered that I wasn't terrible at bass either, and asked for my services for a new project she was assembling. I was able to jam and get a gig a lot faster in KFC than I was with Arminthe, and I was able to get to know some of the musicians there that I'd always wanted to.

KFC is:
* Elise (Lead Vocals, Guitar)
* Gretchen (Rhythm Guitar, Backup Vocals)
* Bea Bell (Keyboards)
* Glecille (Lead Guitar)
* Peep (Bass, Backup Vocals)
* Justin (Drums)

I'd befriended some of my friend Chantal's Chinese buddies, and since we were all into music, one day we decided to combine forces and actually play a song, with the attempt being pretty successful. Wish us good luck on getting into the Xavier School Variety Show.

BBB is:
* Chantal (Lead Vocals)
* Gian (Lead Guitar)
* Peep (Rhythm Guitar, Backup Vocals)
* Ryan (Bass)
* Ian (Drums)
Thank God we don't have Friendster.

God bless my bands.
Your influences?
For Arminthe, a great deal of glam rock, alternative art rock (say Incubus), and, uh, just alternative rock in general. For KFC, it's pop-punk or candy-punk, or just pop given a twist. For BBB, we just take whatever's nice to sing and play from the wide choice vicinity of the rock world. For the bands, their bassist just listens to a lot of emo, popera and trance. Hee.
Favorite spot?
The bands grow up in condominiums. KFC's home is Goldland Plaza, the first gig being up in the roof deck. Arminthe jams in One Salcedo and goofs around in the park.

The exception? BBB. Ian's swanking attic in Corinthian Gardens.
Equipment used:
The bands? Generic gear and amplifiers for rawk bands. For recordings, I just use a mic, a jack, some cords, my acoustic guitar, and ACID Pro 4.0. Sonic Foundry, the best ever program.
Anything else...?
You know what? I can do screamo. Sure it sounds girly, but I can do it. I'll prove it to you! *yells to Tustado*
