The Mushroom Man
NEWS   2-10-07
Changed the name listing of the page to The Mushroom Man. It's a new name I'm trying out for the sake of the music. Hope you can tolerate it.

I uploaded the currently final version of "What's This 'Ocean' You Speak Of?" This includes vocals which were previously unavailable. A very inspired composition, to be sure. You can expect more use of my voice in the future.

I fine-tuned the EQ and volume balancing on the bass of Memory Lapse so that it displays much more of a presence in the song, and it truly enhances the song I believe, especially when it gets really low. I mostly left the volume alone except for that track, maybe with a few small alterations here and there. I have a new really interesting instrumental in the works, almost finished with composing, and I have some time on my hands so I might get around to recording it sometime soon.

I updated all my original pieces with new drum tracks in the past week or so (with the exception of As Heaven Falls, which started with the new drums). These new drums are pretty much the exact same only with better sound quality. In otherwords, you can actually make out a bit of what they're playing without hurting your ear or anything. That's why I moved around the order of the songs a little, in case anyone was wondering (though I kinda doubt it). I'll be focusing more on original pieces from here on out, though that Bach cover of mine is still fair game.

The Wonderful Star's Walk is Wonderful was added. The english version of the title is Walking on a Star, though I decided to keep the title strictly translated from the japanese text. This song was from Katamari Damacy, a game as experimental as the songs of the soundtrack were. I'm not certain what my next project will be, though sometime in the future, I would like to work on starting my J.S. Bach cover and getting One Thing in Mind resung by someone.

Added "One Thing in Mind," an original composition, so my next project will more than likely be the song from Katamari Damacy.

Well, now that I've been back from Europe and Minnesota for awhile, I added a new song on the site a few days ago called Faith, the song played during Level 3 of Ikaruga. I have my next cover, which is from Katamari Damacy, ready to start recording on guitar, though I've gotten more distracted by a song I just wrote while I was working on the cover, so I'm hoping to have my original one done beforehand. Also, I don't know how long I'm going to be keeping up this site, but I might be closing it down eventually (that is, if it's not closed down for me) to avoid any legal disputes. By closing it down, I really mean getting rid of all the covers, which I realize is the main attraction here.

Ok, well I've finally put up this new song. I've been slacking off lately, but then again, some matters just come first before music (like my wonderful girlfriend Kelly, for instance). Anyways, tomorrow I believe I'll be working on redoing a little of R.I.P. with the vocalist, at his request, and a bit later I might even be able to record a song with a saxaphone player I know. I just gotta get it done before he leaves, and I'm gonna be gone so much this summer, gosh. If we can pull this off, the song I'd like to do with him is a rerecording of my Hydrocity Zone Act 2, only done much better, with any luck. After R.I.P. is redone, I'll be able to sell it with My Flower as a single, probably for like 6 or 7 dollars. Pricy, I know, but it's not really to listen to the music, you can do that here for free. It's really just to support my music, if you feel so inclined.

I've been out of school since weds. and last night I set up an online shop for my music at www.cafepress.com/RjDwyer/. So far there's only clothing, but as far as actual music goes, they seem to be having problems with audio, so it might be a while. I'm hoping to use some of my artwork with posters soon, though. About the likely-hood of any new work, I plan to getting back into the song I had been working a while ago, now that school work is no longer here to back me up, so there might be a more likely chance you'll be hearing something new soon.

Hope everyone liked My Flower. I hope to take some voice lessons someday. There's quite a bit of covers, with vocals, mind you, I'd like to take on, but they'll have to wait. In the mean time, there's still some video game covers I'm interested in doing, but as many may have noticed, my interest in them has been wary since last spring. An idea that came to me just recently was a study of all the scales in major and minor keys. Basically, they'd all be instrumentals I come up with to develop my composing ability as well as knowledge of the scales and their corresponding notes. For all the studies, I'd have a set of rules I must abide by, such as the tracks, their roles, and other such things that could benefit my skill in music. If I ever w

I am a guitarist who simply enjoys to record music in his spare time. The music I play is most often tied to similarities in progressive and classic rock, though I like to open myself to many different styles. I emphasize powerful lyrics revolving around unique concepts of deep thought and emotion looked at through different perspectives. The music I use to back this up and intertwine with the lyrical attitudes, ending with an overall nice composition as result. This is primarily a passion of mine, though I am looking to get more serious about it.

Why this name?
Well, as much as I'd like to tell you, I'm going to leave it to your imagination so as to bring about misconceptions.
Do you play live?
I don't play live other than in my room or for my friends.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Mp3 allows amateur artists, like me, to put out the music that we would hope for people to listen to.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
As long as I have a reasonable amount of control over my music, of course.
Band History:
I started playing guitar during the Christmas of 2002. Since then I've been building up my skill as much as I can, and started these covers a little under a year after I started.
Your influences?
Jimi Hendrix, King Crimson, Koji Kondo, Beatles, Shigeru Miyamoto (though not for his music), and J.S. Bach.
Equipment used:
TASCAM US-428 Digital Workstation Controller (my recorder), Washburn WG-587 7 String Guitar, Zoom 505 II Guitar Multi-effects Pedal, Digitech Whammy Pedal 4, Shure PG58 Dynamic Mic, Dell Dimension 8200 (for mixing and recording), and last but not least, my coffin guitar case.
