InZaneCountry
NEWS   Hello, Anyone who visits regularly will notice that I've just uploaded a new song. 'Under Your Bright Star' is the final song for the album 'FairyTale'. I have now completed the album, and 'FairyTale'. All of the songs have been re-worked, and I've spent every spare minute I had doing it, ignoring and neglecting almost everything else. I haven't updated the song files on this page, because, well, I'm fond of them just as they are, and they will remain as they are, just for the present. 'FairyTale'? Me, I'm pleased with it, it was hard to do, but worth every minute of it! I hope you like it too, so visit www.inzanecountry.co.uk for a firm release date! George Bolam - InZaneCountry

InZaneCountry is not really a 'band', in the sense that that it is only one person, that is, George Bolam. I started to write songs for a friend who had some real difficulties and tragedy in her life. I decided to write songs for a concept album, based loosely on our relationship, where she lives, and about the events, occurences and people and places that touched her life and mine. The idea was to re-build her self belief, and help her feel better about herself. Starting out in life again is not easy, when your whole world has fallen apart, and that is what she had to do. My friend Donna is doing ok, and I admire her strength, bravery and love of life greatly. In the process of making the music, I hoped to let people know that I could write half decent songs and play Guitar a little. I do everything as far as my music is concerned, every sound you hear is me. I hope the result is songs that are different, songs written like no one else is writing them, and performed not quite like anyone else. My music isn't 'cutting edge', but if you want to hear something a little unusual, take a listen......
Why this name?
The album, 'FairyTale' was written to help a good friend and myself deal with some life problems, when we weren't really being quite ourselves. As I was writing it, I realised that I was often miles away from where I really was, mentally and emotionally, and because the songs are Country infuenced and often refer to an area in Ohio dominated by the name Zane, for historical reasons, it just seemed appropriate to name the band 'InZaneCountry'.
Do you play live?
I play in the UK, in another band, a 'covers band' 'Shades Of Grey' in Pubs and Clubs in Bristol, UK, and I just love it!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
MP3's have revolutionised music transfer on the web, and have made music much more accessible to mass listening. The internet means communication and musical collaboration, live, through a broadband connection, is now of enormous potential. We need to do more of it.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I doubt it, except on my own terms, since they are all totally clueless about music. They are all about money, and though I understand that, (and good luck to them, in a way), I'm not. I'm about being happy and creative and helping people, where I can, through my music. I want to guide my own life, not be run by a record company, and these days, a major deal is as much a handicap as a help. None us actually need a major deal, we can run our own show, do our own business. The Internet makes that more than possible now.
Band History:
Two years, two long lonely years, writing, recording, playing, producing my songs and MP3's and designing the sleeve, artwork, etc. The album, FairyTale, is almost ready to release.
Your influences?
Too many to mention. David Lindley, a favourite Guitarist, as is Johnnie Marr, (The Smiths). Jackson Browne, Fairport Convention, the list is endless.
Favorite spot?
The Ohio Valley
Equipment used:
Tokai Strat, Fenix Strat, Diamond Les Paul JNR Guitars, Korg AX 100 G Multi-effects Pedal, Evolution MK7 Keyboard, Fender 112 Delux Amp.
Anything else...?
E-mail me for anything you want, or want to know. If you do, I guarantee a reply. I'm especially interested to hear from Singers/Musicians who like my stuff and want to collaborate on music projects. Any good fiddle players out there?
