Phormique: a dancefloor friendly electronica mixture of cheesy eightie's new wave and of today's fresh techno sound.

No song will be delivered before it makes you want to nod your head to the rythm.

Why this name?
As I started to make electronic music, I was into 90's acid house. I wanted to find a name that evolved around this scene, and phormic acid came to mind. I adapted it to Phormique just to add a french twist, since I am a swiss/french canadian.
Do you play live?
As I am not yet equipped with a laptop, I only played live a few times. Although I like the energy that emerges from live performances. It definetly makes you feel better about your art.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
To me, the MP3 technology changed the industry of music in a way that the independant artist as now alternative solutions to diffuse his music. We are no longer bound to deal with major labels and multinationals.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No, I would prefer not to be fooled by unfair contracts or to be trapped with recoupable royalties.
Band History:
I started making electronica in 1998, I was 16 years old when a music shop clerk informed me of Propellerhead's Rebirth. As soon as I got it,I fell in love with it, and then I got to try a whole bunch of other softwares and those made me thirst even more for creation. Even now, one of my hobbies is to try all sorts of new music softwares, just to devellop new techniques.... :)
Your influences?
My musical influences come from artists like: New Order,Kraftwerk, Squarepusher, Hardfloor, Soviet, Depeche Mode, DMX Krew, Miami Vice's Jan Hammer...
Favorite spot?
Montreal, Québec, and Zurich.
Equipment used:
I use software synths like Fruity Loops and Reason. I also do my tracking on Cubase SX. My other gear is the Korg MS-2000, Yamaha RM1x, TR-505 and TR-707, electric and acoustic guitars.
Anything else...?
Feel free to critisize my work to your will as I am completely open to any comments.
