Why this name?
I went through several names, so far. Zerin Clave, DJZ, and ZeroFuser (Currently considering Shield as an Alias). I go into greater detail in the History section.
Do you play live?
I'm not a live person, really, but I might be doing a gig or two in Toronto with some of my more Trance/Hardcore stuff.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I don't really like the 'Net's effect on the music industry. Personally, I don't feel that you'll get much anywhere if you're a dot com artist, especially if you're trying to get into whatever type of music is "In", lately, like Rock or Rap. For Electronica artists, it's a good place to put your stuff, and rather than burning 100 demo CDs, give people your site address, instead.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It depends. The RIAA? Never. You'd more likely see me working with a Anime/Video Game/Movie Production company than with a Label.
Band History:
I've been creating one music or another since I was 14 years old, in 1998. At first you'd see me go by Zerin or Zerin Clave (by the way, even that's not my real name, if you were wondering). I used Mixman Technologies for about 2 years, but stopped, reason being that it wasn't a Midi/Audio Composition program, it was more of (actually, it was just plain) a Sample Mixing program. I made several tracks with Mixman. In fact, one of my Epics was made with their sample melodies, but still legally belongs to me. From there, and for the next 3 years, I used Fruityloops under the Alias of DJZ. I still, to this day, use Fruityloops 3.4 sometimes (No, I don't like FL Studio. It's worthless, other than the Vocoder plug-in. That's gold. The main reason I believe FL Studio is garbage is because the Step Sequencer won't loop when a Piano Roll sequence is bigger than however many steps there are. That's critical for making loops and getting new ideas). I made many tracks with Fruityloops. In fact, I believe some of my best stuff was done with it. Even more in fact, my best song ever, Save Eve (in my opinion), was done in Fruityloops. Around the time before I made Save Eve, I changed my alias to ZeroFuser, which is what I currently go by. Currently, and for the last year and several months, I've been using Propellerhead's Reason. I'm hoping to save and earn enough to spare and purchase Reason 2.5. Currently, I'm attending college at the International Academy of Design and Technology for Sound Technology and Audio Engineering. I'm considering changing my alias to Shield. I'm not quite sure. I like ZeroFuser. Tell me what you think, if you have an opinion.
Your influences?
Hahaha. Crashing Guitars or Motown R&B? Well, you might find BOTH. I make Video Game music, but as of late, I would expect a lot of Hard Trance/Rock and other types of Electronic for VGs.
My influences? Definitely Nobuo Uematsu and Yasunori Mitsuda of Squaresoft, with the Final Fantasies, Chrono Trigger, and Xenogears. Noriyuki Iwadare, of Lunar. The NAMCO sound team from R4, and R5. Especially DJ Lain, a good friend of mine who taught me many things about the technology that I use. He's done wonders. If you're just passing through, then make sure to make a stop at LainStudios. (I'll put up the URL soon.)
Equipment used:
As stated in the History section, I used to use Mixman Technologies. I used to (and still do, sometimes) use Fruityloops, and I use Reason, to sequence. I may use Reaktor, or Cubase, at times.
