play lo-fi play hi-fi  Praise You Out Loud

This group's background in Rock-n-Roll, R&B, Country, and Southern Rock give them a sound that appeals to most audiences. Kevin Combs (lead vocalist) provides the band foundation with a strong tenor voice, while Jackie Tatum (lead guitarist/vocals) complements the music with soulful lead licks and harmony vocals. Daniel Smith (drummer) and Ronald Anderson (bass guitarist) round out the bottom with fun rhythms that get crowds on their feet. Keeping the group on their toes is Rodney Brown (acoustic/rhythm guitarist), who's youthful exuberance is contagious.
Why this name?
The name PraiseOutLoud comes from Psalms 33:3, which states "Sing unto Him a new song; play skillfully and with a loud noise". As one guestbook message from a parent of two young boys says, "you, I can handle"!
Do you play live?
Most recently, PraiseOutLoud (POL) was invited to open for Warren Barfield and Russ Lee in Fayetteville, NC. It was an amazing experience, not in playing with national recording artists, but in worshipping with such a large group of people. It was very humbling...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Only after prayerful consideration would POL sign a record contract with any label.
Your influences?
Musically described as "simple songs for simply worshipping", the group usually begins with the lyrics and a simple melody, and the rest falls into place. Songs range from power ballad messages about faith ("Nikki's Song"), to simple melodies of thankfulness ("From Me"), to southern rock-n-roll inspired praises ("Praise You Out Loud").

The group also incorporates contemporary praise and worship music, as well as mainstream music that can be inspirational in nature. Well-known songs like "Open The Eyes Of My Heart", "I Walk By Faith" and "Here I Am To Worship" are always audience favorites. "Wave On Wave", made popular by Pat Green, has become another popular request.

Some current influences include Third Day, MercyMe, Russ Lee, and Jeremy Camp.
