This isn't REALLY a band. . .just a spot for people to listen to my stuff. I was actually in a group called ThirdEyedentity a few years back (I included a couple tracks from those days, in the music section), but we went our separate ways. Now, I do stuff on my own for fun; but I'll drop some collabos with anyone who's willing to work with me. I started rapping in '94, before I really understood the concept of being a "lyricist." As I grew, and as my love for music grew, I have since assimilated different styles and have expanded myself to incorporate different influences in my lyrics. I can battle on one song, spill my life in another, and speak of love on other tracks. I try to cover a broad range of subjects. Unfortunately, NONE of the tracks in the music section really represent the kind of music/lyrics that I'd like to create at this point in my life. Nonetheless, they ARE fun to listen to, and I had a great time doing them. Listen to the tracks, hope you enjoy yourself.

Sincerely,

Lan a.k.a. iitalix
Why this name?
I wanted to stay true to the whole 3rd eye (the mind's eye) concept of my previous group; I was once dubbed "Syntax" by a crew member, but upon learning how many emcees had the label, I switched to "iitalix." Three i's, on purpose; my little tribute to the "third eye" concept. Italics are used to emphasize certain words in written material that are of significance. I want ALL the words I write and recite to have significance, hence the name.
Do you play live?
Would love to play live, but my life is not in a convenient spot for me to do that. I love rockin' a microphone. To connect with people who feel your music and feel your lyrics, that's the ultimate rush. The props help boost the poor ego, also. Hah.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
MP3 has made a lot of impact on the music industry. I think it's ALL positive. File sharing has been around for years; it just hasn't been as easy as the internet and MP3. People say that it damages record sales, but the truth is, lesser known artists get heard and have a better chance at selling their stuff. Artists who make good music will not be affected because good music will always be bought. Eminem, Jay-Z, Nelly. . .their music has been leaked and shared millions of times over, and yet they still manage to sell albums.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Personally, major labels aren't really looking for talent like mine. They're looking for the next "popstar." The focus of a major label is not to find talent, but to find someone who will make them alot of MONEY. Pop = popular = many listeners = mainstream music = money. Unfortunately, my music is NOT for a mainstream audience. I doubt I'd sign with a major label, but if given that opportunity, under certain circumstances, I would.
Your influences?
I grew up on my parent's music (Simon & Garfunkel, The Byrds, The Rolling Stones, Bee Gees, etc.), and I'm glad I did. I have a deeper appreciation for music as a whole, rather than as a genre. If you love music, you must love more than just a single genre. My influences in hip-hop include Nasir Jones, The Notorious B.I.G, Mobb Deep, Canibus, Tupac Shakur, Rakim, and Eminem. I was influenced heavily by some underground emcees to include Slug (Atmosphere), and Qwel from the Typical Cats.
Favorite spot?
Anywhere as long as I have my friends.
Equipment used:
Currently, a microphone and a Dell. The vintage joints were recorded on an Aiwa tapedeck! This is true.
Anything else...?
I love God. Holla front. Leave me a message! Those are always cool to get!
