Why this name?
well I didn't really choose it either good or bad I was born with it.
Do you play live?
I do indeed play live and I very much enjoy it! I have most recently been playing with Steve Fonzo, who is a fellow singer/songwriter, at the Baja Bean in Charlottesville, but I hope that both he and I will expand into other areas.
Special Moments to come:
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would have to see how it goes, but I am not opposed to it
Band History:
I was born in Silver Springs, MD and lived around variouse parts of Maryland and Georgia before moving to Virginia. I began writing poetry and some songs around the same time I began to learn guitar in my adolescence. In High School I was fortunate enough to play in a Bluegrass and Country-Western band called Southern Country where I began to hone my skills as a song writer from there I formed a Jazz/rock drumless trio with bass, guitar and Vocals called Without a Trace. I continued to hone my skills as a musician in the Robert E. Lee Jazz band playing guitar. Here I began to expand my instruments into piano and Banjo. Most recently I began playing Diatonic Harmonica and have hooked up with the other half of the duo I play with Steve Fonzo.
Your influences?
I must say that my biggest influence comes from creativity itself, be it music, art, drama, etc. You know basically life itself! More conventionally my influences could fill up many of these pages. But the big names are Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Nathan Moore, Brian Setzer, Beethoven, Bela Bartok, Charlie Parker and Christian, Nietzsche, Leadbelly, John Lee Hooker, BR5-49, Hank Williams SR, The Beatles, The Ramones, Sex Pistols, Masters of Flying Flipp, Tiger Army, The Misfits, Johnny Cash, Social Distortion, The Clash, John Fehey, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Bach, Kerouac, William Blake, Ginsberg and Chuck E. Weiss
Favorite spot?
Anyplace with good friends, good booze and plenty of atmosphere. Or just about any place I am.
Equipment used:
Acoustic: Alvarez 12-string, Fender Grand Auditorium 6-string guitars, 1938 Wurlitzer Piano, Marine Band Diatonic Harmonicas and 'no-name' 5-string banjo
Electric: Epiphone tele-clone 6-string and home made 6-string guitars as well as a 6 string Ibanez Articore Hollowbody.
Fender Reverb practice Amp and Fender Deluxe 90 amps.
That's about it for my basic set up, but I occasionally use misc. things from time to time.
Anything else...?
I just wanted to say that I'm currently looking for musicians in the psychobilly/rockabilly. I am looking for a bassist(stand-up bass is a plus, but not necessary) and a drummer. So if your in the Harrisonburg/Rockingham/Augusta County Virginia area please e-mail me if you're interested cochran1200@yahoo.com
