Hi,
My name is Nigel Cuff and I have been playing guitar since 1980 when I was 16. For the past 5 years I have been honing my songwriting and recording skills and have recorded an album ans set up my own recording and songwriting business. My songs cover all areas of rock music from heavy to commercial to acoustic guitar.
Why this name?
It's my name. My parents chose it.
Do you play live?
I don't play live. I write and record which is what I always wanted to do.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The distribution of music is now within everyone's grasp. I can now write and record a song at home, distribute it over the internet and have someone from America or Australia or wherever download it and listen to it. It's the perfect outlet for songwriters and independent musicians.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No. I'm more interested in promoting my demo recording business.
Band History:
I started playing guitar on my 16th birthday in 1980 and played in various heavy rock bands eventually switching to bass (because nobody else wanted to play it). I gave playing in bands up in the mid-eighties because it became a chore and completely unproductive. I then only dabbled in music for the next few years and didn't play much guitar. This changed almost 4 years ago when I decided to finally have a serious crack at songwriting which eventually led (thanks to the acquisition of a PC) to recording. And that's where I am today.
Your influences?
My influences include Rush, Yes, Magnum, The Beatles, Def Leppard, Neal Morse (Spock's Beard) and Neil Finn (Crowded House).
Favorite spot?
Anyplace that has music going on.
