in this modern electronic age, one may be judged by the company s/he "Bringing to mind images of Cluster, Zoviet France and Fripp and Eno's "No Pussyfooting" all walking a tightrope across the abyss of space over the moons of Jupiter with the big black obelisk from "2001: A Space Odyssey", the NOISETTES tap into your reptilian brain. Short-circuiting it with their sonic massages, they stretch it all the way up to meet with the frontal lobe, thus effectively answering the questions "'who are we?" and "what are we?" with the answer, "Shh… can you taste it?"
The NOISETTES were first felt in 1989, disdaining the conventions of repetitive rehearsals of pre-arranged "songs" in favor of capturing those moments of pure creativity within the space of improvisation. A revolving door of collaborateurs has passed through the lineup of the NOISETTES; none obliged to be a full member, but always welcome to join and leave and re-join as they see fit.beeps"...

Why this name?
i was working at a coffeehouse, and they had flavored syrups available. now, in Seattle, we get a lot of Canadian products; and as you know, they are English on one side and French on the other. Well, i turns out that hazelnut in French is NOISETTE. I realized if I didn't call my band that, I was a fool.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
it's great. i can record and mix and release a song in one day.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
yes
Favorite spot?
San Francisco
