I have been making music since i was 14, using an amiga and some crap keyboards... im 23 now, and in the last five years ive made loads of music under various names, aswell as forming a group called 'PORT VOID' with a friend of mine.
SLO-bott is a side project of mine, where i like my style to be pretty simple, making use of good loops, vocoders, and voice synthesis progs. I love robots aswell, so that is always a strong theme i like to explore.
Why this name?
SLO-bott. ROE BOT. YOU UNDERSTAND?, ITS A SIMPLE AS THAT.
Do you play live?
ive not had a chance to arrange any live solo gigs yet , but i'd love to get the chance to play outdoors somewhere, i need more reliable kit first.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
it opens great opportunities for people like myself, who just want people to hear the music they have made, it puts an emphasis on creativity and craftsmanship, its less about money or record sales and all the other bullshit the media feeds us!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Hell yeah! if it meant having creative freedom, with out the worry of having to pay the rent, then sure i would, but lets be realistic here folks, that only happens to a small percentage of lucky musicians!
Your influences?
I'm a big warp and rephlex fan, Boards of Canada, Cylob, Square Pusher, Aphex Twin, etc.
Favorite spot?
Any where chilled like a field or some woods, prefered with a fine 'erb to smoke and a good view. Industrial waste land can be inspiring aswell.
Equipment used:
A decent P.C. with a terratec producer soundcard, running cubase sx.2, tons of plugins, mc303, akai s2000, beringher compressor, makie mixer, and loads of shitty casio keyboards just for a laugh.
