play lo-fi play hi-fi  Again
This band can best be described as: thick funk grooves. . . mixed with melodic, high energy rock and the intensely personal lyrics of lead vocalist, Darcie Rae.
Why this name?
Man. . . what's in a name, right?
No, but really, this band was actually a "just for fun" kind of thing originally. A kind of creative outlet, if you will. Eventually, after playing a few shows, we decided that we had to call ourselves something permanently and just picked "Off Limits".
Do you play live?
All the time. We play all over L.A. . . .The Roxy, The Whiskey, etc. We've played at 14 Below in Santa Monica, Nicklebees in Ventura County. . . .We actually just got through touring the state of California for a couple of months. That was a blast!!! We all love playing live, and whenever we can, we will.
Having said that, I'd have to say that opening for Tower Of Power was probably our coolest gig so far. Those guys were really cool and they're also a band we really look up to.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Mixed opinions. . .
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah. That seems to be everyone's goal, right?
Band History:
Off Limits was formed in August 2001 when Johnny, Joe, and Eric, members of the funk-rock band Moflo, joined up with Darcie Rae, former singer of the band Grandma Sugar. Both bands used to gig the L.A. scene (The Whiskey A Go Go, The Roxy, etc.) together before Moflo lost its singer and Grandma Sugar broke up. When these seemingly unfortunate events took place, Darcie, Joe, Johnny, and Eric united to form Off Limits.
Your influences?
Our influences range in everything from Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, to Tori Amos and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
We're a highly energetic rock band filled with infectious funky rhythms and melodies.
Favorite spot?
Los Angeles, of course!!!
