Alex Simpson
NEWS
Soon to be uploaded - sample tracks from 'Nothing To Say', and studio sessions with my long-time friend Rob Meinardi. I'm still trying to secure the rights to distribute a duet I've written with Lucy Ayrton, formerly from one of my first acoustic bands, BabyTenEyes.

Hi, I'm Alex Simpson, a mainly acoustic singer-songwriter, with a few interesting twists and turns in the songs. Influences include bands anywhere between Bread and Slipknot, and there are some songs that are just plain new (If you don't believe me listen to them!). I'm always recording new songs, and if you wish to buy a copy of my first album, 'Nothing to Say', it's available from CDBaby.
Do you play live?
I've been known to play a few live gigs here and there, but I'm mostly recording at the moment. I'll soon be gigging with a vengeance though, and I'm aiming to play in every major city in the UK before long - pubs and clubs, you know the score.
Band History:
Well, what to say? I started writing songs at the young age of 16, and I've now got a repertoire of around 60 songs - 15 of which I've recorded on an album called 'Nothing to Say'. I've played various low-profile gigs, and unfortunately missed out on the opportunity to open for a major signed band, due to personal reasons which at the moment I'm not comfortable discussing. However, I'm building back up to re-enter the music scene, and as mentioned before, I'm hoping to tour the UK soon (under my own steam, I might add, so keep your eyes peeled for me!).
Your influences?
Marilyn Manson, KoRn, Slipknot, Simon and Garfunkel, Bread, Gary Jules, Carpenters, Beatles, Pantera, DJ Tiesto, DJ Tommy Cee, Eminem, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, and all the other ones I can't remember at this point in time!
Favorite spot?
Onstage, in front of a crowd - be it 3 people, 3 thousand or 3 million. That buzz is the best feeling on earth.
Equipment used:
Line 6 Variax Acoustic; Line 6 spider half-stack; Marshall AVT150 half-stack; Zoom 2010 rack effects unit; Soundcraft 200B mixer for live drum kit recording; Roland TD-6K electronic drums; TAMA Rockstar Custom Drumkit; Sabian B8, Sabian Prosonix and Zildjian ZXT cymbals, Shure SM58 microphones, and a clapped-out old 386 computer for MIDI triggering.
Anything else...?
I've now almost finished recording my second album, which will be called 'The Insignificant Other EP', and have started writing for my third, which has the working title of 'Rose Between the Smokey Thorns'. Oh yeah, and I've got a new tattoo. :-D
