We are a collection of various musical tastes... Byrds to Beatles to CSN to Bonnie Rait and Motown! We are all lead vocalists and have played around northern California since 1978. We offer excellent original pop rock music and wonderful harmony. Mostly we have fun and I think it will rub off on you. Try us!
Why this name?
The Cast pertains to a group of performers as in a movie. We have been joined by various musical influences over the years.
Do you play live?
We play mostly in Sacramento county. It's not L.A. or S.F. but it's been an easier pace and the years have been good to us here.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Are you kidding? Who in the world would ever find us otherwise? :-) I was contacted by a collector who purchased my demo album in Switzerland once. He found me on the internet asking about band info...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes I would. The dream has never left... As with many, I've been soo close. I was more of a "looker" in the older days, but musically better than ever.
Band History:
I began in Miami, Fla with a southern rock band called Southern Steel. We broke up after 3 years of touring from Florida to Nashville and "almost" securing a Major Label. I joined a group from New York while on the road who became The Cast. We gigged our way from Ohio to Texas, Colorado, Spokane, Anchorage and finally to California where we settled. I've played at gigs featuring the Animals, Procal Harum, 31st of February (both Allman bros), Freddie King and had some great moments... just not as much money.
Your influences?
I'm basically a folk rocker weaned on the Byrds, Beatles, Buffalo Springfield, CSN, James Taylor etc... also love old Motown, Stevie, Ray Charles, Staples, Temptations etc... any good music will do, thank you.
Favorite spot?
haven't found it yet... it's all good
Equipment used:
6 and 12 string acoustic and electric guitars... 4, 5 string and stand up bass, keys, lottsa percussion and good harmony... Give it to me Real.
Anything else...?
You don't need a lot of gimmicks... Most any equipment can sound good if you know how to use it. We still do it mostly the old, honest way. A smile on your face brings me back to sing tomorrow.
