Hey all, we're a bunch of guys in our late teens writing songs about angst, the usual things that you'd associate whiny bands with. We're heavy though - which should appeal to the mosh-monkeys
Why this name?
Malice Auxilary was chosen simply because it basically means how we feel somtimes - that everybody needs some sort of aide/guide to vent their anger and frustration through - for us, this would be our music.
Do you play live?
Not as yet, but we've had a few people seemingly interested in hearing us play live. In essence, don't all bands play live to begin with, when practicing? Unless you're a manufactured boy band
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Ask us when we're rich and famous and need the money to help our flagging career - our views may change then (Like Metallica)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If we got one, why not? It's silly trying to say you're underground when in actual fact making lots of money out of doing something you love is an ideal career move. People say selling out too much now and if someone was to sign to a label they too would come under this heading. Selling out is changing your style, not changing how much you're getting for doing the same thing.
Band History:
In 2003,Jez Gage (guitar) and Karl Nichols (drums) started their first band, Anger Management" in Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire. Their music was very much influenced by 80's hair metal fused with the early thrash scene (Guns 'n' Roses, Slayer). The band took a break due to other commitments and distance and then re-grouped in mid 2004 to form Malice Auxilary. After several auditions for a lead vocalist, Jez decided to bring in Ben Jackson (vocals), former guitarist for ToastedGoat and Mirror 4 The Blind, who got the role after a very definitve practice session in which the two (already, for a few years) friends cemented their somewhat writing partnership.
Your influences?
We have many influences. Each and everyone one of us brings in a different style to the band. We're not a normal band you'd fine - we're one part emo, one part thrash, one part nu-metal and one part grunge. With nods to My Ruin, Avenged Sevenfold, Deftones, CKY, Foreign Objects, Jor, Static X and many more, we very much draw inspiration from any band that sounds good and has a certain edginess, integrity and deeper meaning to them.
Favorite spot?
Anywhere but Newark. If you've visited Newark, it is a pretty desolate place, littered with deviants. If we're pushed to find a place - Nottingham or Lincoln. We have many friends and family there so these places do feel a lot more homelier than Newark.
Equipment used:
Jez - Dean "Z" electric guitar, Marshall MG-30 DFX amp, Korg AX10-G FX Pedal
Karl - Olympic 7 piece drum kit, Stagg double kick pedal
Ben - Bog-standard decent microphone (Phillips), Yamaha amplifier.
Anything else...?
Yes. Can we just say a big thank you to anyone who has, is or will listen to our stuff. Also can we say a big "f*** you" to anyone who tries to hold anyone down in the music buisness. And a huge middle finger to pop music or acts who think they are rock - when in actual fact they are bastardising the genre we grew up listening and loving, and stil do...

Oh, and DAMN YOU E-BAY!
