Misericorde was formed by former Year Zero bass player Murray Geddes. After trying to assemble a live band, the project essentially became an outlet for Murray’s musical ideas. Several songs were written and recorded with Murray supplying both bass and guitar, and a computer brain doing drummer impressions. The search for additional musicians continued, and after over a year of discussion and umm-ing and ah-ing, and the straightening out of personal business (read “getting his sh*** together”), James Moffatt finally decided to get his finger out and pick up a bass once more. Following several successful jams, the rhythm guitar and bass positions were both filled.
In April 2006, the band has been complemented by Dave Pinnington on drums, and the focus from now is to tighten up the existing songs with a view to recording a demo and getting some gigs...

Why this name?
The band name seemed apt for what I wanted to do, it means a couple of things. Misericorde means "a relief from misery", be it a medeival church pew/seat/perch, to a room in a monastery where certain rules were relaxed (like during periods of fasting etc), or on the medieval battlefield, fallen & seriously wounded knights were "put out of their misery" by foot soldiers (most commonly archers) using long, thin bladed daggers/dirks/poignards which could penetrate the weak points in suits of armour.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows the free promotion of music, similar to the old tape trading scene.
